I called Kings Island and a supervisor told me that we are gonna have to wait in line on the 18th in order to process our passes. They said that we will not be able to get in by just showing our certificate. They did not announce this very well so I wanted to make sure everyone knew. Or, you can drive down there and process before the park opens. IMO this is BS. I argued with them for awhile but they will not budge. We also have bids on Diamondback so I am not sure how we can be riding Diamondback and waiting in line at the same time. If you are not happy with this decision please complain. I hope my links work.
Peace, Mikey

This years opening weekend has just turned into a mess.First they can the friday night preview, then they close the park on sunday for a private party, and now the whole season pass mess.
Good thing I renew my pass at the end of every year.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
The season pass policy was changed in the last 2 weeks.

The policy was changed due to feedback from folks who wanted to get their passes processed early at other parks like KI.
If you have Diamondback bids I'm sure the situation can be worked out. Besides, KI's season pass center is better than CP's anyway.

omg that stupidly hilarious commercial.:)
The only thing I'm a tad confizzeled about is since I will be processing my Cedar Point pass at KI for their opening day, does it mean I have to process my future passes thru KI or will it be a Cedar Point (or other park) platinum pass which I can process thru CP next year if I don't have plans of going to KI opening day 2010? I'm thinking it's the second one.

If I read T & T correctly, I think the goal is to have all the parks streamlined by next season (2010)...that is, the goal is to set up the system to allow you to purchase, renew, and/or process a Cedar Fair platinum pass at any park, making this type of issue a "non-issue" by next year.
Promoter of fog.
I know that last year I ran into a mess to get my pass processed. Since Geauga Lake was my home park and the one closet to my house, I bought the pass at the park in November and then in the spring I was told to take it to Cedarpoint to process so I did. Well when I got there they had a problem and couldn't process it because it was the computer at Geauga Lake was different than Cedarpoint, so they had to cancel the order and then reprocess it! It all worked out, but I hope they get the process worked out and less hassle! That is why many of us but the Platnum pass is to enjoy all the Cedarfair parks! I am upset now that I have to process the pass at kings Island to get in! i am glad I have three trips down there planned! I put a suggestion in that in the fall when they allow you to buy the passes for the next year, you should be able to have them processed all at once so you are all set to hit the parks the open earlier than our point! We will see what happens....
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

Hopefully they will learn from CP's expertise and get it right next year.
I have a feeling CP is the reason everything is screwed up, not KI. After all, the Paramount pass system worked fine for years, and it is the "legacy" parks like CP that are trying to adopt to the system. Of course, as someone else mentioned either here or on Coasterbuzz, the pass systems at CF parks should have been modernized years ago.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Just a friendly reminder that who the park really cares about are the families that will be visiting the park between Memorial Day and Labor Day. They care about enthusiasts MUCH less.
Yes it's a bummer that the preview was cancelled and yes the season pass stuff could (and probably should) be better, but the truth is the park is not that concerned with enthusiasts having everything perfect for them on opening weekend. How many of the core demographic (for example a family of 4) do you think are going to be there in April anyway? Besides they know that we'll visit the park multiple times a year despite early problems.
Personally, I think the only reason they open so early is because they have lots of large groups that visit between now and June.
