Does this mean I can add a new question to the FAQ list?
"I'm going to CP July 9th-11th, will the MF ride ops be rude to me? If so, what days should I go to get the best treatment?" ;)
I don't want to sue anyone, and I'd gladly give written permission if asked. Doing nothing, however, is like giving up your copyright entirely, making it harder to defend if someone down the road were to really rip you off.
By the way, the thing on Darien's Superman last year happened because the guy was entirely too large to be in that train. He fell out because he was well outside of what Intamin spec'ed. The ride operators should have never allowed him to ride.

all i want to add here is this...yes, printing and distibuting things from here without permission IS patently wrong..BUT, and no offense meant here, Jeff, i always got the impression that you and CP had this kind of "You scratch my back,i"ll scratch yors" thing going on. i get the ditinct feeling that they TRULY LIKE this site and the things it does for the park and its fans. you are probably known as the "Quintissential CP Fan" to them and obviuosly they do like you because they could have tried to shut you down instead of supporting this place. what the MF crew is doing is also wrong, and there is no excuse for rudeness on anyone's part. we should not have to take that lind of treatment, but the best thing we can do is voice our opinions to CP in writing, in person and by refusing to ride MF. that last option does not appeal to me at all...there is probably more going on here than meets the eye, and it's also possible that whoever printed these things out figured "Hey, it's on the Internet, it's fair game" and did not bother to read the small print about this sort of thing that you so carefully included on the site.
either way, i plan to continue to go to the park and to ride MF, but i am not one to stand for rudeness and i will take names and make the appropriate complaints to the right people...gonna be a long season. i am on your side Jeff, but fame is indeed a double-edged sword. and having the BEST CP website out there is bound to have its problems...

ride early, ride often!!!
Does Superman have the seat belt that Millennium Force has? If it does then he would have no reason to not fit in. Where did he fall out at

If enough people took the effort to file a complaint directly IN PERSON at the Park Operations Office on the Kiddy Kingdom side of the Coliseum, it may help the situation. No company, in their right mind, wants a disapointed customer. If enough people complain through proper channels, than management might see the light at the end of the tunnel, and make some changes.

Magnum23, I'm pretty sure the seatbelts on SFDL's Superman were added after that incident, but I could be wrong. I also seem to remember Rideman saying that the seatbelts were changed this year and are now mounted to the chassis instead of just to the seat. I believe both Supermen have the same seatbelts as MF (with the funky buckle). Even without a seatbelt, the only way I see someone falling out is if the lap bar barely gets over their knees and they can kind of pop out. However, I have relatively long legs and the bars fit over my knees easily. Maybe if the guys gut was so big that it prevented the bar from getting over his knees, he could have fallen out. Everything I hears points to the fact that the guy at Darien shouldn't have been riding in the first place...

What could be better than Y2K @ Cedar Point - America's Rockin' Roller Coast?
Jeff, if someone would print out your photos of MF and show them to friends so they could see how cool the ride is, would that be right infringement?
I rode S:ROS at Darien Lake last year after the incident and I honestly cannot recall if it had seatbelts or not. Yes, the man that fell out was too large for the seats, which is why (according to other riders on that train) he was able to stand up (the bar could not be lowered enough to pin him to the seat). Because he survived, I'm guessing he fell at the long flat stretch over water, but that's just a guess.

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.
CP_genius, I am sure Jeff really doesn't care. No, I doubt that would be classified as "infrigement". Just don't say they are yours. Did you get all that? :-)

spewey - no. That falls under fair usage. Provided you don't pass it off as your own.
You should be directing your message to CP_genius. Just a friendly note. :-)

Yeah like I'm going to tell all of my friends that I have a digital camera and I took all of these great pictures from cool angles. Yeah right! - Since I hadn't even gone to CP when I showed them the pics.
last night (sunday) the MF op's were better, lots of smiles and I didn't see any rudeness. That is not to say it is still happening.

3 Force rides:
3-2, 5-1, 9-2
I've ridden Millennium Force at least a half-dozen times, and so far the amount of "pricketry" [hey, if Jeff is gonna use it, I'll use it...] I've seen has been pretty minimal. On one ride, I got 'stapled' unreasonably; on one ride the turnstile attendant was being unreasonable, but for the most part I've found the Millennium Force crew to be pretty good. It's not that I doubt your stories; it's just that they don't mirror my own experiences on that ride.

During my two day visit the ride ops were nothing but nice and happy to be working on the tallest, fastest, and best rollercoster in the world. After replacing a wheel on the red train two mechnics had to ride in the seats we were waiting for. The ride ops could have just made us wait but instead let us get the front seat!

Remember, line jumping is NOT a sporting event!
I still got to cheat the lapbars all weekend. Of course, it helps that I've shed a few pounds from a beer gut that I can still convincingly stick out whenever it's necessary :).

Remember, the best way to insure that no one ever gets any room again is to keep bragging about how much you're getting. That's how all this stupidity started in the first place.

Wasn't going to add to this one but have to
For the most part the ride ops I have known over the past couple years have been absolute SWEETHEARTS-I love them all and it is awesome for me to be known like that!! I have met a couple of new ones this year who have also been extrememly awesome-hard working and just the kind of people you hope are working that day just to say "hi"
BUT-
on the flip side
I have also added a couple to my "can NOT stand" list
I agree about the Mine Ride ops-rude-nasty-I miss my fellow tattoo op Smokey and his crew! There is one particular Raptor ride op who I have never seen before but the word "annoying" comes to mind. Her "speech" is loud and obnoxious and she is little Mz "attitude" to all. My final straw with her was when I was "power riding" Raptor the day before Coastermania she asked me how many total rides I had in (apparently the other ride ops mentioned to her who I was) I told her
she said "thats it?"
EXCUSE ME?
No it's not a million laps but give me SOME credit-I just started keeping count and riding Raptor ALOT LAST year-I live 5 hours round trip away-it is a LONG haul for me to get to CP-I am quite proud of my ride record and really wanted to tell her kiss my you know what-but ignored her instead.
Last week same type deal on MF
(Matt will remember this one)
One of the ride ops who know me asked me how many laps that ride would be for me-I QUITE proudly said "47" - he replied "I dont even have that many and I work here" well-one of the female ride ops who happened to be standing right rhere said "I have a hundred and something"
And your point? WHY say that?
NO one was talking to her to begin with, and she works there, I would expect tons of rides from the ops-but dont consider that a "fair" comparison to the normal GP-I have to "work" for my rides, and I am proud of my 7 trips and 48 MF laps-there was NO reason to try to "shoot down"
me, and it was quite clear that was the intent by both those operators.
When I work there this Fall then I can ride like crazy and hopefully hit over 100 laps but I certainly wouldn't take away from any of the GP with their individual records-they were just plain being rude.
I just try to remember how old most of these ops are, I remember my favorite ones and definitely remember my least favorite ones, this year however seems to be the 1st year for me my list of "cant stand" seems to be numerous!!
I promise I will be as nice as can be when its my turn to do that job!!
