Prices at Cedar Point

Ok I'm curious about how the prices are at CP cause I know SFWOA will price gouge you, the pirces are way to high and is not worth paying all the money and most of the parks I've been to are the same way.I'm gald about the 59 dollar ride and slide thing which I think is great, it helps me out alot saving money that I need for maybe a few souveniers. So can someone tell me how the prices are like for food soveniers and about games?

They're average for the industry. In other words, don't expect any bargains.

Muh Gawd, thats average? I remember paying 10 dollars for 4 chicken strips, fries and a drink...I feel so cheated

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.

The prices are extreeemely high--but that's what we expect at amusement parks. I think CP is in trouble with SF so near, and including so much in one park. CP increased the admission price to $42, so they can advertise a $10 off coupon. They jacked up prices inside, to maximize profits. $3 for a bottle of water is outrageous, especially since they won't allow anyone to bring in a bottle from outside. BUT that's what they have to do to stay alive in a very competitive business. (BTW, where is that $1.00 water? I looked yesterday, and couldn't find it.)

So we sneak in our own water bottles, and enjoy the treats worth buying. Macho Nachos make a really good meal (for two) at $6.95.

Towanda!

I may be gold, but I refuse to be old.

I don't think CP is in trouble because of SFWOA. They aren't really comparable in my opinion. SFWOA is more of a park you just go to. CP is more of an event, something to look forward to.

Although they are in a much different league, any competition is good for the consumer.

I don't know how CP did yesterday, but someone said Six Flags did 13,000 people through the gates yesterday (Saturday). That's not very impressive. He also said attendance over there has been piss poor so far this year. I know CP's is up slightly from last year, but last year being so bad, that really isn't saying much. I don't think there's any reason as of yet to be worried that SFWOA is cutting into CP's business. CP just needs to keep providing superior service and overall guest experience and people will always come. The day they lower themselves to the level of the competition is the day they'll lose customers.

13k on a Saturday? Cedar Point has had more than that on the off days I've been there this year.

Haha, I know! :) I think on some days there's 13,000 people from the buses alone! He said they were expecting 35,000 or so and got about 13,000. Take that for what its worth.

Edit: I was just told (and the website confirms this) that as a budget cutback, WOA has cut their hours of operation to 10AM-9PM Sunday through Thursday. That can't be a good indication for them. This goes along with cutbacks in the number of cashiers and cutbacks on supervisor hours.

When did CP stop allowing you to bring your own water in?? We were told we could not bring soda pop in, but bottles of water were fine a couple weeks ago!!

We were there on May 28th and a friend of ours was told he couldn't take a bottle of water in, he had to drink it outside. It's sounds like an inconsistent policy which funny enough SFWoA had a lot of last year, but I haven't noticed this year.

Water is water is water. The only difference betwixt the water people bring in and the water they sell in the vending machines is that Pepsi has taken the trouble out of pouring it into a bottle and chilling it for you. Hey, you would think they'd let people bring in water anyway, just so that when they get sick of their own yucky warm water they'll just say "Screw it, I'm buying an Aquafina!"

A tip for the money concious at CP

If you're at the point and you are thirsty for some water, just ask for a glass of icewater at about any food booth in the park. You will get a glass of tap water free of charge. Personally, having never been a fan of bottled water myself, I find that the free tap water tastes better than the three dollar bottled water anyway.

I was out at CP again today and had a taste for a burger from Burger Patio by Raptors forward loop. I have not bought a single thing from that stand in years and was shock that they want $7.50 for one lousy burger, and an additional $1.00 for tomatoes, onion, pickles, ect. I ended up getting some pizza ($3.00) from next door and fresh cuts from Hot Potato ($4.00) instead.

If you are looking for reasonable food prices at CP, I would suggest any sit down restaurant with a menu and waiters. The restaurants usually have less waste at the end of the day, which causes the shrinkage to be lower than the quick service food stands, thus a lower price and better quantity. The best restaurants in value and quantity in my opinion are in this order:

1.Silver Dollar- They give you so many French Fries that I usually can’t finish all of them.

2.Breakwater Café- Located by Sandcastle Suites it has very high quality food at a reasonable price.

3.Macaronis- Italian Cosine averaging $5-$9 a meal.

4.Coffee Shop in Breakers- traditional menu at reasonable prices.

5. Midway Market- Kind of pricey at $12.95 a person, but it’s a all you can eat buffet.

There are other restaurants that I am not familiar with:

1.Boat House- Will be making a point to try it sometime this summer.

2.Bay Harbor-I hear this one is upscale and a little pricy.

3.Dominics- I was familiar with it until they changed the menu and made it upscale.

4.Johnny Rockets- Every time I go in there I turn around and walk right out; too noisy for a quiet relaxed dinnertime.

I really think the prices are for 'Day Tripers'. If I come from Detroit for the day I'm not leaving the point. I'll expect to pay....As a season pass holder. I don't really care as much. I get in the car and drive to McDonalds that is less than 5 minutes away. Problem solved. Not everyone is in the same position. At the start of the season I was really against the prices. I've pretty much given in on most of it. I still can say I will not pay $3 for a pepsi. I've bought more fountain pop than ever. It's still cheaper.....

Get with it or die in the process.....

Same as jeffgn, as a season passholder from Detroit area, I generally go down for a day and it costs me only what I spend for food or drink. Although last trip, we packed a cooler for drinks. We generally get there early enough to park very close.

You guys are missing the boat big time peeps! You have to take advantage of the Picnic areas at the Point and bring your own spread.. My crew and I always packs a cooler full of cow and pig carcass and bring my portable propane "tailgate" grill to do it up right. We eat like kings and don't pay the bend over prices you do in the park. CP is great to let the Gen Public do this as a alternative to park food! Besides theres nothing like the smell of dead cow on the grill peeps!

$7.50 is for a value meal. That includes fries and a drink! I think the burger by itself is around $3.50. I think you misread the sign!

I was about to say... no market conditions would ever allow them to sell a solo burger at that price!

I think it is intresting that CP does not give out straws and lids with fountain pops anymore. IMO they are almost forcing you to buy the souvenier plastic containers, or bottled containers. A truly sly move by CP.

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

I agree with you there, Vince. When I eat there, I have to learn to eat my meal first, otherwise I can't finish it because I'm full from fries. I also agree packing a lunch for the picnic area is the way to go. I do it every time.
