Well I was at the point for a few days and as I always do, I go and get a MF night ride. Well by sheer luck that ended up being the last of the night. Well so what right? Correct.
Then I am heading back to Breakers and notice that TTD is still running and I figure they are just finishing up the rest of the riders. Seeing that I had nothing better to do I went and sat down on the bleachers and watched a few trains launch. Then I stand up and I see people heading into TTD's line. I'm pretty shocked because it's 11:00 pm.
Well long story short I end up getting last ride of the night on TTD at 12:00. I was just wondering if anyone has ever been able to do this as well?

Was there any rides closed for the majority of the day? Sometimes when one thing abruptly closes and there is enough of a demand that day for thrills (so to speak) another ride or two is kept open an extra hour.
That is quite neat. You lucky person you ;)
I was there too! TTD was down from about 4pm to 9:45pm, so I think that had something to do with keeping it open until 11.
At 9:40, I saw that they were starting to test the ride again, so I jumped in line. The ride was running very smoothly and I thought that I might be able to jump back in line at 10 after I rode for the first time, however the ride went down for about a half an hour. I finally got to ride at 10:20 and noticed that the entrance was still open; so me and my brother got back in line.
The rest of the time, there were several breakdowns; they would launch a few trains, then there would be about a 10 minute breakdown and then they would launch a few more. However, I was able to get three rides in between 10 and 11, and was also able to jump back in line at about 10:55.
After waiting for another breakdown, I finally got my 4th launch at midnight (second to last train of the night). So I probably saw you, CP4eva'04.
I also want to say, a great job to TTD's crew! They remained as enthusiatic as ever, even an hour after they were supposed to be off.
I don't know if this is the first time that Cedar Point's done this (I'm pretty sure it's not), but I sure enjoyed it!
It's not the first time that CP has done this. But I wonder who makes the decision to do so...It's late at night, so I doubt the "suits" make the call. Must be the team leader on duty at the time?

I always plan to do MF as my last ride, so we get in line about 45 minutes before the park closes. Most of the time, when we get off the ride about 15 minutes after close, the line is still open and we can get another 2 or 3 rides in before they close the line.
It's happens on odd days and I have never had any idea why they do that. But I never question it, I just try to enjoy it for whatever reason it's happening. :) *** Edited 7/1/2006 12:31:21 AM UTC by Coastern3rd***

Trust me, it has nothing to do with the Team Leaders, I was a team leader in rides for a few years. It is not even a managment call. It is indeed an Executive call. Part of the job duty of the General Manager is to be on call 24/7 and live within 10 minutes of the park. You can bet if something happens in the park at 3am Mr. H will be there as fast as can be.
When Bill Spehn was still VP of Ops at CP he would come in about 8am and stay till about 1am some days and come back at 8am the next morning. He also had about a 30 minute drive to and from work.
I don't know for sure who has the final say, but it's not a call from anyone lower than Mr. Wozniak.
So let me get this straight, park closed at 10pm. However TTD kept boarding riders till midnight?

I think he meant they kept the line open till around 11, and by the time he got on, it was 12.
Great to hear!

I was going to mention this in my TR but I have not felt like typing it (I will eventually post it).
Anyways I had gotten to the park at 5:00 and saw that TTD was down. This was not A big surprise to me because it has been broken down the last 3 times I have gone (I go to CP once a year). I did a lot of things from 5 o'clock to the time Hot Summer Lights had gotten over with (more details in TR). I was leaving the park after the show and when I was walking by the TTD station I saw people in it but not a lot. I said to my cousin with me if there letting people on we are going on too. When we got to the entrance of the ride the guy said that they will close the ride at 11 o'clock so we ran from there to the station for a walk on ride. After we got off we ran to get another ride on it. After the 2nd ride my cousin felt a little dizzy so I ran to get one more ride on by my self. I got to the queue just in time because after I got in line they closed the entrance. When I got to the station I saw that it had broken down because there were no trains being launched (for those of you that were there I was wearing a orange Timberland T-shirt and walking around the back loading station).
Finally with out warning A train launched. Than wile I was waiting some people let me go in front of them because there was another single rider on a train. The train I was on did not get launched for like 10 min. and when it did it was another surprise launch:). All in all getting 3 TTD rides at night in less then an hour was great, the best part of my trip this year.
RIDE ON, and ON and ON and ON and ON and ON...
Top thrill has done things like this in the past. For example last year it rained from 3:00 to 6:00. Later about 10:00 it opened. My freeway was from 8:00-9:00 but they said they would accept any from durring the downtime. That was an awesome night.
Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.
On one of my visits in May, the park closed at 8 and I got in line for MF at about 5 til, thinking it would be my last ride of the night. When we got off the ride and walked past the entrance, thinking we were leaving, the ride op made the announcement that MF was still open. The only guests in the park that knew it were the 40 or so that had just exited and were right around us. We were lucky enough to walk on and off 6 times after the park was closed. Don't know why they did it, but I wasn't about to complain. There was a girl working in the station that was madder than hell though!
