This sounds great. I was excited about the campground addition before, but this sounds like even more than I expected. Lighthouse Point should be a great addition to Cedar Point's Resorts. Also, I'm glad to hear about the Main Midway Renovations. It will be neat to see the change in things and I love water fountains.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
Too bad there will be no boardwalk. :(

A few questions.... Only 10 cabins??? Seems like they should build more then that. There is a new hotel opening next summer right by Cedar Point and it's HUGE!!! and every room is a cabin themed suite some with fireplaces or jacuzzis.... Anyways back on the topic, this does sound very nice but I still think more than 10 cuz they will deffinetly sell. No ride for 2001?? I know we're spoiled but I thought we got a ride every year? I hope the fountain doesnt take up the whole midway... I love fountains but the landscaping is cool and is like one of the things you relate to Cedar Point. I guess we'll see.
FYI!!!The new hotel i think is the Great Bear Lodge, or something with a bear. It includes an indoor water park, but not a view of Lake Eerie!!!!!

What is the hotel going up by Sport's City?(I think it's by Sport's City)
It was under construction during the summer.

I'm a little disappointed about the press release too. It really sucks. Oh well. Something big will come though. As for the new hotel. It is the Great Bear and it looks awesome. It's down by sport's city and Meijer's. I'm thinking the rooms are gonna be a pretty penny. The waterslides outside at the pool look really awesome.

EHemdo09, you're forgetting about the 50 cottages. Lighthouse Point will actually have a total of 60 units for rent.
I am disappointed with the Camper Village expansion...still no tent camping! :(
No boardwalk?
They slipped this in the press release:
"The park’s boardwalk, which stretches along the sandy shores of Lake Erie and the Cedar Point Beach, will also be expanded to wind around the perimeter of Lighthouse Point and Camper Village.
"
Now, it may not be exactly what we were thinking.. but there it is in black and white.
The ban on tent camping is out of necessity. I doubt it will ever happen.

CP is really vague on the Midway renovation. Are they just putting in a new fountain? Or are they putting in some new buildings? I would like to get more details.
I am guessing it is safe to assume that Cedar Point will be removing the globe fountain?
I am glad they are keeping the old lighthouse, Cedar Point usually cares about it's heritage. I thought that the Coast Guard owned it though?

there is no tent camping at camper village beceause when it rains it floods.the water level rises and it's not high ground

"Cedar Point usually cares about it's heritage"
Instead of 'usually', how about 'sometimes'
"I thought that the Coast Guard owned it though?"
Cedar Point has had it for some time. The buildings back there have been used for storage and misc junk. I remember them being hazardous to walk through!

Utilizing the lighthouse area is exciting news. A lot of CP's history has either dissapeared or has become overshadowed by modern additions. The lighthouse is a historic part of the pinninsula. I look forward to strolling along the extended walkway. It was a waste to use such a prime spot for a boneyard. The main midway upgrades should be an improvement. I wouldn't want to see it get completely redone but it certainly could use a facelift. I wonder what the details of that dancing fountain will be.
In the Morning Journal (Lorain County Paper) their is an article and a sketch of Lighthouse Point's cottages. The cabins and cottages will cost between $125 to $200 a night and RV sites will cost $59.
Check out CP's website now. They have a box for Lighthouse Point. Click on it and you can see some illustrations. Looks nice. Once you are there, click and hold the bottom image to save it. Then open it in Photoshop or Quicktime, or whatever picture viewer you have. The picture is bigger now and you can see MS in the background.
That picture of Mean Streak is about as innacurate as they come. The 2nd hill isn't even there.
