Power Tower Memories

As you probably know, I've made a lot of posts about memories, but it never occured to me to get your memories from Power Tower. So, what is one of the best PT memories you've got??
There are none, since I have never ridden it. I did NOT like Tower of Terror at DW, so I have avoided PT...
I remember the first year it opened I was there and the park was about to close for the night and this song was playing and I was looking up at PT and I discovered that I was hooked on CP cause it felt like that was the only place I wanted to be. Another one of my memories was a few weeks ago I was on the Turbo Drop side and I got into my seat, pulled down the harness and ti was kinda loose. We finally made it to the top, we dropped and my palms were all sweaty and the harness was still pretty loose. It moved up and I think that was the tightest grip I ever put on anything. I knew it wouldn't come up but I just didn't really believe it. Thats just why I hate that side. Up is awesome but down just doesn't feel right to me. Wow that was kinda long hope you all enjoy.

MrScott, the Power Tower is nothing like the tower of terror, because it's a controlled drop, not a freefall like T of T. I had the same thoughts, but it's NOTHING AT ALL LIKE IT LOOKS! Right people???
Tower of Terror uses a drive motor to push itself up and down therefore you bounce up and down and get held in place in between bounces. Demon Drop uses gravity to drop, thus there is no way to go back up except by using cables. Power Tower uses compressed air to push the cars either up or down then partially uses gravity to let them bounce. Therefore all 3 rides are different.

Oh that would be my first ride or drop on PT. About 3 years ago. I was starting to get into coasters. Having just conquered Raptor a few weeks earlier. My friend says to me it is just a little worse the Raptors drop, not much though. Little did I know he was lieing through his teeth. On the SLOW climb to the top I seem to recall perhaps some profanity, a pale white face, and a butt kicking to be delivered to my buddy friend after this ride. At least he did tell me that is was much worse then the Raptor drop...on the way up to the top. Well he didn't get a butt kicking, after the drop I told him I loved it and we did it again.

I rode Magnum 5 times and MF once with Robin Innes.

It's Dan K's fault.
I never really understood why all 4 poles weren't just used for the turbo drop.. My memory's always remain of that ride, I can remember each ride on it like it was yesterday and I can't say that about any other ride. I think it is the beautiful look at the whole park that I love. Power Tower is one of the best..
I have 2. The last day of school in 1998, the junior high went to Cedar Point. My friend and I had planned our trip 3 months earlier, and one of the first rides were going to hit was Power Tower. We got in line, and I justcouldn't get over how freaking tall it was! We waited maybe 30 minutes, and it was our turn. We got on, and were facing another tower. It looked like we were up as high as we were going to go, but I look up, and we're only half way up! Once we get up to the top, we look down the other tower, and can barely see the bottom of it. It looked like it went in too far. Then we counted 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2,----S**************************T!!!

Yes, there was a loooong scream of profanity all the way down, then an adrenaline rush. We were pumped, but the line had gotten long, so we headed back to Magnum.

The next memory in pretty short. It was the night of my last trip of the 1999 season, and we headed over to Power Tower. The DJ started playing Cotton Eye Joe. So whenever I hear that song, I think of Power Tower. Kinda like whenever I hear Allstar I think of Magnum and when I hear Love Shack I think of Mantis.
When I went with my Moms boyfriend. Okay, he used to be a fighter pilot guys. And he had gone parachuting before. Not to mention he went on all the coasters that day, minus two.

So why was he SCREAMING all the way down (Turbo Drop) that thing? Then we get off, and he will not only not ride that thing again, he also refuses to get on any other rides that night. He called me crazy for ever going on that thing more than once. Then, he spent the rest of the night in the arcade while I went on Mantis, Iron Dragon, and Millennium Force. All walk ons. :)

I still laugh at that one. A pilot being afraid of Power Tower. Priceless!

Last year during the Discovery Channel video shoot they sent us up during the playing of the National Anthem. Dan Feiht and all of silver tags flipped out and told them to e-stop the ride. As far as I know no rides are supposed to be running during the playing of the anthem each morning. It was funny watching everyone flip out.

I think it was in August 1998 and rain was being dumped on the po!nt. I was in line for the Space Shot and I was a little surprised that they didn't close it. Well we got up there and got on while it was still pouring.

Let me tell you, Space Shot into pouring rain is PAINFUL. That ride gave me quite a sting. These were some heavy raindrops too. I don't think I need to really explain it - you're being blasted directly against the force of the raindrops. Nonetheless, it was fun, like always.

Steuks!!
That's nothing compared to the front seat of MF in the poring rain! My God it was excruciating! I had to cover my face the whole. The only fun parts were when we went down hills. It was cool to see the rain "fall up" especially on the first drop.
I rode PT last week for the first time this season and I felt as scared as I did the first time I ever rode it. It was great having that feeling of uncertainty again.
Riding Power Tower at night, when I knew I was leaving one of the greatest parks ever.

One of the best thrills of my life.
