Power outage: Potential downtime

Jeff's avatar
Power just went out, apparently under heavy A/C load in town, so there's a possibility that if it's out for an extended period of time, the backup power will run out.

Just warning you. ;)

Let your mind go...and your body will follow...

Jeff,

Did you lose any data? Did you back-up, (I know you did, just thought I'd ask). did SQL server's "Excellant" back-up system save the database?

Is "Excellant" a really fast bug?

Why would I lose any data? When the power goes out, the server turns off, not explodes.

RIDE IT OUT!

I know I can't spell! It happens, I've seen it, if it's in the middle of doing a critical task writing to the data file, SQL WILL crash, but I'm glad to hear everything is ok.

Why? If the transaction fails, it rolls it back on startup. There's a reason they can charge $5,000 per CPU.

Is that why I am getting this when I try a direct link to any topics that I am tracking via email notification? I have never seen this on this site.

No... that's something else, and frankly I'm not sure what. Are you using any kind of security software or ad blocker?

Yes, however with both of them not running I still get the same errors. They are both out of the sys tray and not running in task manager and I see the same errors.
Same here.

It doesn't matter where they're running... that makes no difference.

The problem has to do with the fact that your computer is making requests without indicating what kind of client (browser) you're using. When that happens, it doesn't know if it should serve you the rich text or plain text post box.

I am fixing this, but there are some other minor things I need to fix before I prepare a new build.
