Posting reminder?

I'm not sure if it would help much since we already have pinned topics but...

Could you guys set up another "**STOP!! BEFORE POSTING READ ### SECTION OF THE TERMS OF SERVICE!!**" type of screen that used to be displayed periodically when the noise got to be too much?

I have just noticed a higher volume of double and triple posting rather than people editing and/or deleting them lately. I would hope that it stems from them not reading the TOS when they signed up, rather than them just causing noise.

Anyway, just a suggestion.

Also, along the same train of thought, has there been talk or discussion on making some sort of a quota? Like, a user needs to make 30+ posts to threads already started before they can start making their own new thread?

Theres a 10 post per day per user quota currently.

Ben, as much as I like your idea because of the recent abundance of "noise", I dislike it. (Funny, this is just my 30th post, and I've been here for over a year.) I check the site almost daily, and read almost every post, so I know the rules and what is expected on this board. I feel like I should be able to start a thread because I have been here for a little while now. So, in my opinion, it should be a certain time thing rather than number of posts.

^ I couldn't agree more with you. I should be amount of time you have been here also because then some new members will post useless things because they want to start a thread.

Okay, point well taken. 30 days or 30 posts, something like that.

I am surprised that I haven't gone over the 10 posts/day quota, if that really does exist.

Well if you need to post one time a day for 30 posts why not just wait for 30 days then start a thread. Or post like 2 or more times a day. Maybe it should be 20 posts or 30 days or something I dont know.

I've been here since November and already have 249 post.

I just broke post 700 the other day and I couldn't believe. I do not consider myself "one who makes noise" (someone please tell me if I do made excessive noise) but lately there have been some great threads to discuss.

The quota is selectively applied... maybe it needs to be applied more often.
