Port Clinton

I am going back to the point for halloweekends and have booked the country inn and suites in Port Clinton. Usually I stay at the Motel 6 Huron so I'm not familiar with the port Clinton area. Just wondering is it a bad drive to Sandusky from there? I know it's a bit further but I got a really good rate and it's a nice hotel. I would like to have stayed closer but all the decent properties are just way out of my budget

It'll be a 15-20 minute drive from the hotel to the park. You have a few options as far as which exit to take off Rt 2. I've found that Rt 101 has less traffic than US 6, but either way will take you through downtown. I like to go over to First Street and sneak in that way.

If you're looking for a place to eat near the hotel, Jolly Roger's has awesome fried perch. It's at the next exit west on Rt 2.

Nope, you'll be fine. There's a nice view of Cedar Point crossing the bridge, too, that you will totally dig.
Port Clinton is a nice area, scenic, kind of quiet. And you'll be close to Cheese Haven! Woo Hoo!

Ok you got me, what is cheese haven? Is it a cheese store? My husband and I both love cheese. I think we made a good decision to stay in Port Clinton, I really wanted a decent hotel and having breakfast included is a big plus as my husband loves to eat and I know they have the real comfy beds

We will have 3 opportunities togo to the park depending on the weather, we've got 2 day park passes, all day dining both days, early entry both days and fast passes one day, so I figured we would wait til we got there to see when we will hit the park, thinking Saturday and Sunday but who knows with the weather

For what it's worth, you can't go wrong with Country Inn, even being in the next city. Also had good experiences with them.
