"Pop's Guide"

Jeff, I was just wondering where the "Pop's" name came from, because I remember way back when the site was new and it was called "Pop's Guide to the Point". Thanks.

Don't you remember the huge argument back when the site was www.rollercoaster.nu? Half of the members were calling pop prices outrageous. The other half insisted that it was the soda prices that were out of control.

Apparently, Jeff calls the stuff "pop" and since that was the first real debate on these boards, he went with Pop's Guide. Kind of an inside joke...

My sister wanted to be an actress, but she never made it. She does live in a trailer,so she got half way. She's an actress, she just never gets called to the set.

Hmmm, I thought it had to do with software/Web programming lingo... Such as POP server, or POP3.

Interesting little fact..

By the way, I call it SODA. And I am from MI. People here think I am crazy.

First of all, it was never just "pop" anything, it was always POP World, as in POP World Media (an Ohio limited liability company). I owned the domain name popworld.com until early 2000 when I sold it to a bunch of brits with really deep pockets. The tag on the old site actually read "POP World's Guide to The Point," and it's apparently in a few search engines as such.

The actual name I thought of back when I was still into the radio scene. I wanted a domain name that had some reference to pop culture or music, so the name worked. Little did I know it would ever have been worth six figures to someone else.

Regardless, the name stuck and in 2000, I formed the LLC to create a seperate legal entity which actually sells the forum software and publishes these sites.

The next "brand name" thrown into the mix is CliqueSite, which finally will be a registered trademark about a month from now. It's the name I'll be branding the forums, and several other products, under.

I like vending machines, because snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at the store oftentimes I will drop it, so that is achieves its maximum flavor potential.

...and I'd have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for those meddling kids!

I'll have to try that sometime, it might make the $3.00 drinks taste better...
