Poll: If Magnum was never built

If the Magnum was never built, what are your personal thoughts on what might've been built there (station, lift hill, wherever). I am not saying that I don't like the Magnum; I love it

Maybe in the Soak City area, maybe some tall slides may have been built where the hill is. Over at the station, maybe a compact coaster could have been installed.

Fear the Mullet!

If Magnum was never built:

I wouldn't be typing this.

I wouldn't love roller coasters

I would not be the huge fan of Cedar Point that I am now

I would have never been on televsion.

I would not have all of the great friends and memories I cherish so much.

Geezz I could go on for a while with this one.

All of what dan said plus Cedar Point would not be what it is today and SF:WOA would be the dominate park.(scray thought I know just be glad Magnum was built)*insert sarcastic laugh here*

Good point Raptortwister..Magnum was the shot heard around the world in the coaster wars of the lates 80's! It defined a lot of what CP is today...Predecessor and prototype for many coasters throughout the country

Magnum would have been missed, but I loved Cedar Point before Magnum. In fact, it was a great park before Magnum. So I'd say that I'd still be the same CP freak I am now, just with less company :)

I would just cry and never know the joys of Cedar Point if Magnum was never built. "She" was my first "big" coaster that I ever rode. But if she was never there, CP would prob. build more of Soak City, yet I would prefer a bigger 500 foot coaster! LOL! ;)

If Magnum was never built, I feel that we would not have had a big coaster until the mid 90's. Cedar Point went way out on a limb to have that coaster designed, went through several companies before Arrow decided it was worth the huge monitary risk. I think todays coaster would be extremely different in every park, if Cedar Fair didn't take the chance on building such a groundbreaking ride.
If Magnum was never built you could add Mean Streak, Raptor, Mantis, and MF to the list of rides that would have not been. When you look at it, all the other coasters to be built after Magnum are products of that "biggest, fastest, baddest, ect." drive that Magnum started with it overwhelming and unexpected success in 1989. Other more low key coasters probably would have been built due to a lack of "drive" that Magnum and the coaster war caused.

What other companies did CP try to get to build Maggie?

Whoever it was, I bet they're kicking themselves right now has hard as possible!

If Magnum was never built, I doubt this site would exist. Magnum created a lot of enthusiasts, I'm one of them.

You would really have to go on how Cedar Point was before Magnum. If the park was successful before Magnum was built then I believe it would have continued to be successful, just not at its rapid pace.

The Magnum site is not that big. The roller coaster's design itself is different from most in the park. If you look at the others, most of them intertwine within themselves so not to take up much space. However, Magnum goesn't do that, it follows a long and narrow trail like any out and back. So I don't think anything would have been built there but an out and back unless the roller coaster went into that parking lot.

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.

Magnum's where I lost my virginity- er- fear of RollerCoasters.

What if magnum had been built by Intamin?? (lol)

would it be as rough, would there be a MF, would there be a company named Arrow? lol!?

Well, back then Intamin and B were still the same company and hadn't split from each other. Intamin's first "modern" coaster of theirs was Superman: RoS in Darien Lake and Volcano: The Blast Coaster. It would have been a while since we would have seen Intamin ready to build a hyper. The first year of Intamin box track was also 2000 with MF, and S:UE. I think it;s interesting to see how radically coaster companis, Cedar Point as well as many other parks have changed in the past 10 years.

If Magnum was never built I'm sure things would be different, but I loved CP before Magnum, so really that wouldn't have changed for me. There would have been plenty of new rides and attractions anyway. And if we never knew Magnum, we wouldn't know what we are missing, so whatever way CP would have developed, I'm sure people would have been pleased with it.

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

Yeah, I was very very surprised to hear the Intamin story, that they were the Vekoma of the day, and SFDL really really went out on a limb with them, but they proved to be awsome! But just hearing, that they were making last ditch efforts, before they fell off the face of the earth, luckily their other divisions saved them (people movers, little spin & pukes) but I think arrow was the only company around that could have manufactured Maggie, due to it's size, and their size!
