Policy on age at Resorts? Problem before trip

I am trying to arrange a trip to CP for my cousins 19th birthday and some of her friends, but according to Cedar Point, we are not allowed to stay at any Cedar Point resort because her friends and her are not blood related relatives, and the respective guest parents will have to accompany each guest under 21. Our main purpose for wanting to stay at the resorts is the perk of getting into the park an hour early because we will only be able to stay at the park from 10 till 6 pm. I have reason to suspect if we don't get this perk we will spend 3 to 4 hours of the day to do Dragster and Millennium Force, and I would like to see these guest enjoy as many of the rides as possible. I am currently working with several people in reservations, and I have not had any positive news. any suggestions? I do understand they probably had problems with keeping a family atmosphere having large groups of teenagers possibly, but our group is all over 18 and college students, and I would be overseeing the group.
If you are of age, just don't let CP know about the others staying in the room, and pay for 2 guests. If they catch you. they could throw you out, but if you don't give them a reason to throw you out, I can't imagine CP tossing you out.

I just logged on to CP's website, and it states that a person 21 or older must make the reservation and anyone with them under 21 has to be accompanied by a parent or legal gardian, nothing about being blood relatives.

Parent or Legal Guardian. Parent = blood relatives. Legal Guardian = legal "blood relatives".

I do beleive though that as long as you are over 21 you can make the reservations and stay. The person that is of age has to sign a sheet saying that they will be held responsable for anything that happens. I believe thats how it goes.

A legal guardian is not necessarily a blood relative but I digress. It used to be that if someone in the room was 21 (you presumably) then the hotel would let others stay as long as the hotel called the parent of each minor to get verbal permission. In other words, "do you know where your kid is?"

I couldn't tell you if that is still the case but I would ask to speak to the reservations manager to get clarification.

Where do you plan on staying? Breakers Express? We stayed there (hubby, myself and a friend) and my hubby was the only one who went in to check in. They didn't ask for I.D. or anything to verify age. (at least I don't think they did) (they didn't ask us on the phone when we were making reservations either) Yes, we are all over 21, (24, 24, and 23) but the fact is they never asked our ages, and our friend and myself stayed in the car while he checked in, so they didn't know who was staying in the room, etc.

If you don't even bring up age at reservation and only the 21+ person goes in to check in, will they even know how many people are staying in the room and what their ages are? Probably not!

OKay I have spoken to many people at the park, we cannot stay at the park, the legal guardian has to be court appointed, etc, etc. It sounds like we could get away with it, like you said not everyone walk in, however the reason for staying there is the early entrance, and Im sure each person would have to goto the desk and get a card stating they are staying in such a such room and they may question it then.

I'm pretty sure they just give you a business card sized card that has your last name and how many are in your party to get into ERT. Its not like anyone ever checks it at the gate anyway.
I stayed at the park (breakers express) with some friends in early may. We were all 21 except for one friend. At the desk, since I look near 21 they asked me for all members of the party to present our ID's. We did, and for some reason, once they saw 3 of us were 21, they didn't make a fuss over the third who was 2 months short of 21. They guy just gave her a look, then me, and handed us our keys. We got lucky, but I wouldn't plan on that happening again.

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

One night after Avalanche Sam and I were returning from a CP friday trip, we met someone who works at Breakers. She said that the reason the legal guardian/parent has to be present or the person has to be 21 is to prevent either frat parties in the rooms or prom date "wink, wink."

On an interesting side note, she told us that if anyone on the staff is able to sell the Presidential Suite, which costs $1,000 a night, the person gets to get the day off, paid.

The whole 21 thing is also a Sandusky City law..

It's not just a Point thing. Try and get a room anywhere else in the city of Sandusky and you're subject to the same rules.

The Sundown Motel on Rt. 6 West has a minimum age of 18. I'm not sure where the city/township line is at there, though. They could be just a few feet outside the city.

In 2001 I was able to get a room in the Best Western Cedar Point Area and I was not 21 at the time. They did not check any ID's and no one I was with was 21 either. I remember I chose that hotel because their website said their minimum age was 18. Maybe it has changed now, but that's how it was in 2001.

This is true. And of course, anyone in the party can get in early, whether or not they are accompanied by someone over 21.

I'm the product of a summer romance: My parents met at CP in '75!

The age thing is sort of dumb if you ask me. I am a responsible 18 year old, and I know plenty of people who are married or live on their own at 18,19,20 and they can't rent a hotel room. Gimme a break. When I went to CP with a few of my friends who are all under 20, I stayed at the Days Inn in Milan,OH. They never asked for ID. We acted mature and they never questioned us.
