Pokémon at the Point

So, I was seeing all this buzz around town about Pokémon Go. Are people running all over CP catching them? Cool game BTW.

I'm sure. My nephew is currently in the Magic Kingdom looking for him.

Promoter of fog.

I wonder how it works up there though? Can you find water Pokemon by Soak City? Find electric by WT?

I don't think the location has that much effect on the types of Pokemon. I found some at the Point and then found the same ones 2 hours away at my house. Unless it's just those types that are common everywhere. But I just started so I could be very wrong.

Every once in a while, you have to ask yourself "Why". finding pokemon is one of those times.

I see people bumping into each other while looking down at their phones is what I see, LOL! Dunno, never been into the Poke but I guess to each their own.

The Cedar Point game looks much more fun but haven't tried it yet

Coming back from vacation, I hate the world a little more because of this.

What Jeff said. I understand these people are running around Arlington National Cemetery. And I'm guessing the National Sept. 11 Memorial as well. Sacred grounds in my opinion. Places for reflection. Whatever happened to decorum?

I'm pretty angry they're showing up in the National Holocaust Museum in D.C. too.

I will admit that I have an addiction to pokemon in general (not just go) and own nearly every main game, and some spin offs. I will also say I at least have the sense to not play it at ground zero, Arlington cemetery, and the holocaust museum among other "sacred" grounds.

On a brighter note, there are a ton of Poké Stops at Cedar Point, but not very many Pokémon from what I've seen.

Also, team mystic and all of that.

Hollowed ground and significant stuff that you should be there for THAT cause, yeah that's pretty low. Like, at Arlington, my phone's not even on me when I've been there.

Anywhere else that isn't significant like that, who cares. Least they're out & about moving and having fun while they're at it. I see no issues with that.

We have a beautiful city park two blocks from my house and the players are jamming it every night. It's nice that they're there, but I don't see anyone really enjoying the scenery.

At the same park there's an outdoor amphitheater with a permanent stage and on summer weekends a local professional theatre company produces free Shakespeare productions drawing hundreds of audience members every night. Well, come to find out the stage area is a Pokemon "gym" (whatever the hell that is), and players blindly roam the area during performances. They stand in front of the audience, invade the backstage area, and have even tried to get on stage during the show. So now the house manager and ushers are busy running interference every night trying to keep intruders at bay.

People in my neighborhood report looking out their windows to see a stranger, phone in hand, standing on their front porch, or in their bushes, or trying to get into their back yards. I drove down a busy highway the other day and more than a few tuned-out players were wandering the berm dangerously close to traffic.

So, yes, its good that the game is getting people "out and about", but it's clear for some of these guys it's their very first time.

It's not really a problem with the game, it's the lack of common sense and respect from some of the players. I see it as nothing more than a virtual reality scavenger hunt. My neighbor asked my husband if she could hunt them in our yard. He asked her if we had any and she said that there was a big one so he told her "go get the bastard before it eats my garden".

I've read that restaurants are having troubles with people wandering around the restaurant -- they're not there to dine, they're there because of the game.

What Paisley said. And I think it's a broader problem than just Pokemon Go players, given how many times I've had to dodge someone walking down the sidewalk focused on their phone instead of their surroundings.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

The original Max&Ermas is in my neighborhood and they've posted a sign welcoming players, apparently it's a gym, too. And I reckon they're expecting to sell burgers and beers.
Other neighborhood restaurants aren't so kind. Their signs read something along the lines of "NO Pokemon here".

I was sitting on a park bench one evening this weekend visiting with a friend very near where the play is performed. Singles and couples were continuously going by with their phones. Finally as these two gamer dudes were walking by I yelled "Got one!" and swiped my hand through the air. They stopped and I peeked into my fist and said "I catch mine the old fashioned way." They just stared at me with their mouths open.
At least my friend had a good laugh.

Clearly they didn't read the fine print.

What is the Holo Cost? Is that some sort of market for trading holographic cards or holograms?

^Dude. Not funny.

ANYWHO. I play Pokemon Go. I love it, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. (TEAM MYSTIC, Y'ALL.) That said, I really wish people would show some common sense while playing. They're giving the rest of us a bad name- those of us who don't wander into people's yards or into busy streets without looking first or know not to play in cemeteries and other inappropriate places.
