PointBuzz RSS Feed

I downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird, now with RSS support, and I was wondering, since CoasterBuzz has an RSS feed, does PointBuzz have one too (for news and/or recent posts)?

If you don't know what it is, then you probably don't care.

If you do know what it is, then you know it's a cool thing for a site to provide, although there are some costs (or more accurately, absence of revenues) associated with it.

The great thing right now is that the Mozilla folks integrated it into Thunderbird, and since I use Thunderbird daily to check my campus email, it's 10x easier to check out my fav sites for news and other junk :)

There's also a plugin or five for Firefox that snag RSS feeds. I had one for a while and it was pretty cool but stopped using it when I realized that I keep surfing to the sites anyway.

As a lot of publishers are starting to realize, there is a pretty serious cost associated with providing RSS feeds. A loss of ad revenue is actually the least of a publisher's worries. The real problem is people setting their readers to update every other minute and sucking the life out of servers and their connections. The Microsoft site where I post my technical blog was getting so slammed that they couldn't keep up with it. Granted, they were transmitting full blog posts in their feeds. Their solution was to drop full posts from the feeds and limit the post size on the home page to the first x number of characters. The onslaught even made News.com.

I guess the point is that I'm not sure what I'm going to do exactly at this point.

I think that this is a great idea. I made a PointBuzz button for my Google Toolbar and it has the capabilities of getting RSS Feeds. Also I have many RSS Feeds on my iGoogle homepage.

Jeff has said many times that the code of Pointbuzz is very messy and he plans to get around to it. I do look forward to a RSS feed though.
