It's called "Attention Whoring" and it's popular on the 'net nowadays. At least this guy either deleted his account or got the banhammer dropped on him.

As far as the "kids" thing goes, I disagree with that totally. I started posting on this forum while still a teen (aww look how I've grown up, short jokes nonwithstanding) and I do not perceive the problem as being the age of some posters, but the maturity level of some posters. I've passionately posted about this on rec.roller-coaster in the past and gotten flamed for it, but oh well, it's something I believe. Age does not dictate intelligence or maturity, nor does a person deserve my inherent respect just because his mother spewed him forth before I was born.

That being said, just by reading the initial post of this thread, I can safely, without even having READ the deleted posts in question, say that I too would not have found them worthy to grace my screen. Here's a hint:

Age isn't an issue... I've had very mature (and literate) kids under my coaching wing for years.

I am probaly one of the youngest here, being born in July '88. Yes, I have made irrelevent, stupid, and moronic posts, but, I and many other young posters are not morons.

This is my first and last on this subject.

My point wasn't that all young people are bad. I know for a fact that isn't true. My point was that when a particular person whines here and then takes off and puts down GTTP in another venue, it seems they lack some years.

Hey! I'm fffffffffffff. Fffffffffffffffffffff. Fffffffffffffffffffffff.

40! There, I said it!

I make moronic posts all the time.

Thanks for putting up with that.

I hate to keep antagonizing you, Walt, but that a lot of the time isn't true. Just look at all the stuff that's happened with rec.roller-coaster and Coasterbuzz and URC and all the people at those places. Historically, most of the biggest whiners and slammers of other sites and ideas have been older people, and what's worse, some of those people are supposedly respectable leaders of organizations and such. I think a lot of people know who I'm talking about in one particular case here...

I probably should have been more specific.

I won't argue with you regarding r.r-c. There are very good reasons that I don't participate there anymore. What I was referring to are a few specific instances regarding GTTP that have led to some "Jeff Putz bashing" at a certain web site's forum area.

And that's why people keep coming back here and CoasterBuzz. There's no room for that kind of crap, and no one wants to read it. A certain site I loath was being slammed over on CB and I still deleted it. Nobody cares, back to topic.

There definitely shouldn't be an age limit change. I started posting when I was 14 back in 1999. I obeyed the rules because I wanted to talk about CP. Now I'm 17 and I have seen many instances where younger members and older members alike have posted useless crap just to be heard.

The way I see it is if they make an*****of themself early on, that gets rid of them that much quicker so they don't bring the rest of the community down for an extended period. Mod bashers, on the other hand, need a swift kick out the door, especially when the rules are blatanly laid out for them.

Exactly, I will be 15 in July, been here since Nov. of 2000. I mean there are plently of moronic, stupid, and immature "kids" out here. But there are also lots of literate, innocent stereotyped "kids" who never make a scene, and are just here to be with the people who slightly understand their obsession-Cedar Point.

Thank you Jeff and the others.
