I'll preface this by saying I've called customer service twice -- and got two answers.
Grandparents purchase the kids' regular passes every year. They use the payment plan. This year I want everyone to have Platinum passes. When I show up with the regular vouchers, I can simply pay the difference up front to upgrade to Platinum, correct? I was told "Yes" the first time I called. I called a second time because the poor girl sounded confused and frazzled. I asked the question again and was told "I'm not sure, let me check with a manager." She then came back and said that I could only do that if the originally purchased pass was already paid in full. I told her it was on a payment plan and she said "Then it can't be upgraded."
This can't be accurate, can it? Just trying to figure out the money end of this before I show up at the park.
That kind of makes sense to me. A work around would be to pay off the regular passes in full and then upgrade to Platinum.
I would call the park again and make sure you can pay the regular passes in full. I can’t imagine they won’t let you do that, but this is CF IT we are talking about.
I don’t set CP policies, but let me try to help using a little logic.
My guess is you’ll have to pay them off first. I’ll assume payments on the original plan have already been made. And if that’s the case upgrading at this point jacks up those payments. I’d think the system doesn’t have a way to credit those payments and start you over with new payments at the upgraded level. There would be proration and I think it sounds like a math nightmare, and if it were me I’d never be 100% sure I was paying the correct amount.
I think the best case scenario is that you’ll pay off the regular passes and maybe they’ll be able to start payment over on the upgraded balance. If they are able to enter a non standard amount as a monthly payment.
Or... maybe they’ll allow you to pay the upgrade up front and continue payments on the lower amount but somehow that seems unlikely too.
Maybe someone here knows better than me. I’m sorry the park was no help, but at the same time I’m not surprised. You’d think this would not be the first time this situation has come up, you may have gotten new employees that didn’t know and couldn’t get any help themselves.
Good luck.
You CAN pay them off early. I just did exactly that in early April. Then, bring the passes and you will have to pay the difference between whatever price was paid for the passes and the current price of Platinum passes.
ROUNDABOUND.
