PlayLand Park

By chance, does anybody here remember Play Land Park/Kiddie Land? It closed mid 80's(?)It was located on Massilion Rd., in Akron(OhIo). I was fascinated by it as a child. Both my older brothers worked there. One as a ride opp., the other a jack of all trades. When I'd go with my Mom to pick them up, I got to go enjoy the fun(free rides), and play Skee-Ball! My first time EVER tasting cotton candy was there! It had a good variety of attractions: small wooden coaster, giant swings, kiddie rides, and a Indy 500 type go cart track. I also remember a ride that followed tracks on the ground, but you had to pump a handle up & down to move.There was also an adjourning skating rink & mini golf course. It was a pay to do (as you chose) amusement park. It also housed the local popular Italian-American Festival, even after rides were removed. It's now just a over-grown power station. The roller rink is still standing, but buried in the back by weeds.

I'm not sure if this is the one you're looking for or some other one, but it has a hand powered car at :47.

The ride(cart) I remember reminded me of a RR cart type up/down motion. But the rides in the video are classic! Imagine a truly nostalgic area in CP, with alot functioning rides like that!

I'm not familiar with the kiddie park you mentioned, but in the Cleveland area there is still the Memphis Kiddie Park -- and it has the hand cars! We took our kids and plan on taking our grandkids. One of the most adorable places I've ever seen.

Have them ride the hand cars while you can. It's one of the least ridden attractions there and parts have to be custom made. I imagine, the roi will not be worth it at some point.
