Platinum Pass renewal questions

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING (I know the RMC Streak mind games mean all bets are off) when do passes usually go on sale for the following year? If I renew our Platinum Passes, can I use those FL+ vouchers (again, historically speaking) at another park during the fall? Does anyone remember the bring-a-friend details last year?

Wondering if they will be on sale before Labor Day. We are looking at a trip that weekend with some friends. Also curious if I will need to burn up any FL+ offers that weekend (99% sure that will be our last trip to CP for 2017) or if I can pocket them and use them at Kings Island in October....

I believe the FL passes are only for Cedar Point, for certain rides and the best time to renew your pass at the best rate is during Halloweekends (September-October). They usually have some good deals right around the holiday season as well.

That's kinda what I figured. I'll confirm with the park when/if passes go on sale this fall, just had the epiphany that MAAAAAYBE I could smuggle some FL+ passes to KI!

It could also be possible to renew your pass through Kings Island's website, assuming they have the same promotion.

Last season KI was our "home park" for 3 out of 4 of our passes. If you renewed through the KI site the free FL passes were only good at KI and only on Sundays. I didn't actually renew until this spring and did all 4 through CP.

Just keep in mind that in years past if you lost your physical pass and needed a replacement you had to do it at your home park. That may not be the case now.

Also last fall you potentially could save about $30 on a Platinum Pass by renewing through CW. I was tempted but the uncertainty of the whole "home park" thing was concerning.

They fixed that several years ago, In 2012 I had Carowinds PP that wouldn't scan and needed to be replaced, and it indeed did take a second tier higher level manager to approve them replacing it with a CP pass and a $5 charge. The whole thing was ridiculous.

Last year they replaced a family members pass without question or charge.

Good, because my pass still says Geauga Lake and Wildwater Kingdom on it... If that had to be replaced there may be some slight issues with the old system.

Hang on to that one! It'll be worth MILLIONS when they resurrect Big Dipper and rebuild Geauga Lake around it!

Oh, I know! Then when they build a park with 22 roller coasters to be the biggest, baddest, best park on earth, I will be able to prove I was at the originalzzzzzzxx.
