Platinum pass renewal

I just looked in the Cedar Point website as well as the Kings Island website (where I bought my 2009 platinum pass) and it does not have a choice for a platinum renewal discount. Is this normal? I was really looking forward to getting the discount this year.

Thanks for any help,
Ryan

I'm pretty sure that you needed to renew before the end of the year. I don't know for sure but I'm pretty sure the price is now the same for everyone. I'm just going by your signature but are you an employee. If you are why are you getting a pass, you get free admission anyways?

Is anyone else unable to load cedar points website?

Yes I will be an employee for the 2010 season. I wanted to get a pass so that I could visit Kings Island before I started at CP this summer since KI opens earlier. Not only that but also so that I can get in on the platinum ride nights.

Since we are on the topic of platinm passes, I have a question that has not been answered by anyone. Kings Island is my home park, but i will be getting my license this summer, and will be able to get to CP. I have a KI Gold Pass purchased and needing to be confirmed at the season pass center, but i want a platinum pass. Could i just upgrade at the gate? Is that possible?

I am too lazy to just ask on KI central, so does anyone here know? Thanks!

Yea. You can upgrade at the ticket window I believe. Just have your receipt there with you and tell them you want to upgrade. They will take the price you have paid out of the total cost.

The only way you are going to get to Cedar Point is with me. I promise you your mom wont let you. :)

They have employee ride nights once a week (or at least that's how it's always been in years past), so do you really need the platinum ride nights too? Obviously if you want to be able to do both, more power to you, but I just thought I'd point that out. Of course, if you plan on going to KI more than once or twice before CP opens, that would also make the pass worthwhile.

While we're on the subject of platinum passes, can anyone give me their quick input as to just how sucessful you can be with early entry? Can you ride Millennium two or three times in that hour? Can you ride Maverick twice?

What's the forecast for ride counts on Millennium and Maverick on extremely busy days in that 1st early entry hour? What is it for not-so-busy Saturdays in May or June?

Thx!

Just depends how many resort guests and pass holders show up that day. I have been there when Maverick was a 1/2 wait, and I have also been there when we rode Millennium 3 times and Maverick twice before anybody got there.

Is it safe to assume that most of the time (even busy saturdays) you could ride both Maverick and Millennium once in that hour before general admission gets in?

It's safe to assume that the Platinum Pass offers enough substantial "perks" to make it worth the extra money.

Hey, great! Thanks Damon! Going back to examining one of the perks, if you can expect to go on both, is there a better strategy to help ensure this? Do people tend to pile on to Millennium first and then Maverick, or vice versa?

djDaemon's avatar

In my experience, you can choose to ride both once or twice each, or ride one several times before the general public arrives. But it can vary greatly. I've been able to get 3 rides on Maverick, 2 on MF and 1 on Raptor before the crowd was let in. And I've encountered days where I was only able to get 2 rides on Maverick during ERT.

But the bottom line remains the same - if you're trying to decide whether or not the PP is a good value, I think the answer is a resounding "yes" (assuming you're planning on visiting the park more than 3 times during the season).

Thanks. I will just have to play it by ear. It will be a fun problem to have (splitting up excellent wait times between the two greats).

A suprise contender I think they should think about adding to the early entry is Mantis (even though I hate the ride). Last year it always seemed to have 1 & 1/2 hour waits, and would alleviate even more pressure off of the Mav and Mill. I would prefer Magnum, but shoot its normal wait times are short, and Dragster is pretty much out of the question as it takes a long time to warm up.

Without question I will get the PP. I plan to visit the park 6 to 10 times this year and parking alone will make up the difference between season and platinum.

The reason Mantis has a long(er) wait is because the capicity of the ride is not very good. Top Thrill sometimes opens up during early entry once its warmed up. I think Magnum would be a good addittion to the early entry rides but I think CP is good for rides during early entry. Just look at Kings Island, they only open Diamondback and Beast.

When I went to one a Kings Island they had Diamondback, Beast, and Vortex going. I think they just wanted to open Vortex, so they did. I asked a ride-op, and he said that they hardly ever open another ride, and it was only open for like the last 10 mintes of early entry.

I also have a question about Platinum Passes. I ordered two this year for the first time from Cedar Point, and we have a trip planned during opening week for Cedar Point. However, we are debating a trip to Kings Island during their opening week. Will we be able to process our passes there or how will that work exactly?

Kyle2154's avatar

It is possible to just get them processed at KI. But from what I have heard, for simplicity, both this year and in the long run, it is in your best interest to get it processed at the CP pass center when it opens. It should open up in late April, which makes a trip out to KI the weekend or two before CP opens, plausible.

Kyle is right. Or in the future you could buy your platinum pass from KI then you won't have to worry about it.
