Platinum Pass question

I am upgrading from a Cedar Point season pass to a Platinum Pass this year. I'm traveling to Kings Dominion the week of April 1 and I'm wondering if we can get our PP processed there or not. I've heard people having issues when its come to getting your pass processed at a park other than your home park so could we process it there or do we have to at Cedar Point?

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

It is encouraged to get your Platinum Pass processed at your home park, but you can get it processed at any of the CF parks. Since you are going to KD first, I would recommend you get it processed there.

I will be going to Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion myself that weekend. First some background (story...got long winded) and than the plan for pass processing......

A few years ago I had my platinum pass certificate (and my wife's) purchased at CP exchanged for Carowinds passes when we went down there for Easter weekend. Carowinds exchanged it in their system. We were than issued their certificate and promptly redeemed for Platinum Passes from Carowinds. This now became our home park for our passes. That year we had problems getting into KI and CP upon first visits. In each case it was the their system problems handling passes from other parks.

The following year I renewed the passes online via Carowinds website. Still had problem at KI and CP early in the year.

Last year I went to the CP pass office and they were able to load up our physicall Carowinds Platinum Passes cards. They worked without issue at KI and CP.

So this past Halloweekends my father-in-law goes to renew our passes as a gift (great in-law for doing this!) at the Season Pass office, only to be told that they cannot find either my wife's or my pass in the system?!?! Yet we still were able to get into the park without any problem?!?!?! So, my father-in-law buys us vouchers for 2013.

Now the plan... I emailed CP and waited for a reply (the note said up to two weeks for reply). It has been over a month now. No big deal no one is there. I emailed Kings Dominion knowing they are further along since their season starts sooner. I actually had a someone from the season pass office call me as their reply!

I was told to bring the CP issued Platinum Pass certificate to Guest Services at KD and they will provide me with a receipt to get in for the day. I asked about doing this for a second day since I will be in the area Thursday thru Monday. She said she would have to check with a supervisor and get back to me. She never has....even after I called her back once. Again no big deal, I know they are probably swamped.

I have also heard one other thing that can be done that involves exchanging a pass.

My plan is to get a KD issued Platinum Pass for myself to make sure I can get in both days. Since my wife is not going on this trip. I will take my KD pass to CP when we process her pass in April. At that time I will ask CP if they can verify my pass will work at their new turnstiles, or *cough* beach gate *cough* opening day. If they have problems, I will ask them to exchange the KD Platinum Pass for a CP issued one.

At this point I fully expect the KD issued pass to work at CP. But there is a slight bit of doubt since they will be installing new equipment at the main gate.

For the OP- I imagine you might run into some issues since it sounds like you are trying to go from a CP only pass to a Platinum Pass. I've gotten platinum certificates processed at other parks with no problems, but going from a one park pass to a platinum pass might be problematic.

I'd suggest calling both parks (probably start with KD first) and ask to speak to the admissions department. They can give you a better answer than anyone here can.

That's crazy, the last time I went CF park hopping was in 03 and my pass scanned right at the gate at WoF, MiA, and Dorney

03 was before Platinum Pass became the new multi-park option. I remember going out to Knotts in 06 and had to visit Guest Services every morning to show them my CP pass which at that time was good at all CF owned properties.

My situations were around the time that the CF parks were bringing their ticketing systems in line and the implementation of the Platinum Pass.

Getting into Knotts with whatever the multi-park pass was called in 2007 was an absolute nightmare. So much so that I opted to spend an extra day at Magic Mountain rather than return for a second day, even though my hotel was only a mile from Knotts. It seems things have at least improved considerably since then, although there still seems to be some hiccups.

Have they listed yet somewhere the 2013 Platinum Pass perks? They usually have a page that shows all the benefits you get with it.
