Platinum Pass Processing Question

I already have my pass, but two of my friends purchased platinum passes online from the Cedar Point website. We were planning to go to Cedar Point tomorrow so they can get their passes. However, with the weather looking pretty wet all day tomorrow (Thursday), we are rethinking whether or not we should go. With all of us living 2 hours from CP, we will not be able to return to CP before our trip to King's Island the following week.

If we choose not to go to Cedar Point tomorrow, would my friends be able to get their platinum passes processed at King's Island even though the passes were purchased from the Cedar Point website?

Yes.

Yes, if they are platinum passes they are valid at any and all cedar fair park, and does not matter where they are processed.

Has anyone renewed their 2013 PP online? We did it online, with the "buy now, pay later" plan, and I noticed the "ticket #'s" on our vouchers differs from what's on our passes.

I don't anticipate any problems, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed the discrepancy.

I renewed last fall that way. Outside of the confirmation email, I didn't get a voucher for anything, so I'm not clear what you are looking at.

I did the 9 payment plan renewal, just got a confirmation email and receipt, nothing else.

Are you sure you didn't buy new passes? You had to enter the numbers on your current passes for it to be a renewal.

In our confirmation email, there's a "Register and Print Tickets Now" button. Clicking that takes you to the Accesso site, where you confirm your identity and can see/print your voucher for each pass.

There shouldn't be vouchers for a renewal. Once you renew, the pass you have in hand is the pass you keep. Sounds like you bought new passes.

Ok. I went and looked. Yes, different number from the pass. There hasn't been any problems this season; I've used it at 3 different parks.

There are. I can tell because I'm literally holding it in my hand. :)

You're welcome.

I don't think I ever looked at a voucher for a renewal. Didn't even know there was one. Knew vouchers were there for new passes.

On the initial question it may depend on who processes the passes. I few years ago the barcode and numbers on my PP (issued at Cedar Point) were rubbed off. At Kings Island, they would not let me in with the pass. Guest services looked me up and saw I had a valid PP. I was told they could not process a replacement pass for me but they printed a one day ticket. The next day I asked for the one day ticket again and was told they could process the replacement there which is what they did. Same issue. Different day and different employee. Different result.

Now at the end of that year, I could not renew my pass on the CP website. Was renewing my son's pass at same time so I just got a new one for me rather than going to KI's site to renew mine.

When Platinum Pass first rolled out I bought my pass at Cedar Point in the fall, but didnt process. When I went to Kings Island the next spring, I could process it but I had to fill out new paperwork and they had to do some kind of transfer in the office, and it took a little bit of time. When I finally got my pass in my hand it said Kings Island, of course, meaning I had switched to being their pass holder instead of CP's. The last few years I renewed through KI and kept the same pass, but this year, last fall, I renewed at CP and agreed to keep my same pass to avoid processing. Now I guess I'm Cedar Point's pass holder with a Kings Island card. And now I'm getting mountains of emails and cards from Kings Island begging me to come back. Sheesh.

Long story short, it doesn't matter where you process, it just might be a process.

Did you just renew it? Like in the last few weeks? Because maybe then they're treating your "renewal" as essentially a new season pass.

I've never had a voucher for a renewal at any point in the now 6 years since I got my Platinum Pass. There should be no need for it - that's part of the attraction.

My friend just bought his Platinum Pass and is planning on using it on May 17th this year. My grandma purchased it for him on her credit card, and we are now wondering if she has to be present for him to redeem his pass, as it was not a renewal.

Thanks in advance.

I renewed my 2013 PP online back in April. I used EasyPay. I printed my receipt and brought it with me to Kings Island. My pass did not scan at the toll booth. I had to go to guest services where they looked me up and found that I had an active PP. However, the number on my paperwork did not match the number on my pass. They printed a one-day ticket and refunded me the parking price. Now that I think back I don't think I was ever prompted to enter my pass number when renewing. They told me to go to the CP season pass center to get a new pass. I went the next day and was told the pass scanned OK and I should have no further problems.

My son used his PP today for the first time this season. I renewed it online last fall. After reading this thread, I went back to the confirmation email for the renewal and printed the voucher. I told him to take the voucher to the park today just in case. And when he tried to get in with his pass from last year, he could not get in. He had to go to the season pass office, show the voucher and have a new pass issued. Never had that happen before. Glad he had the voucher though presumably they could have looked up his info and verified it without the voucher.

We had no issues using our passes (renewed online) this weekend. We didn't use easy pay, but we did use deferred payment, so perhaps that plays a role?

Perhaps. Every year we just go through the same motions; renew online and print out the receipt just in case there is an issue, which in 4 years has never happened.

Although a couple years ago, it was not allowing us to renew our daughter's pass online. She was 4 at the time, and it said to call, and they said it was catching her because her height might have changed. After a brief conversation, they simply did it for us over the phone and voila.

Next year, though, she actually will be over 48 inches, plus we'll have a 3 year old who will no longer be a free-loader, so it's off to the processing center for us next year.

We did the 9 payment renewal plan last fall. Two payments left, but we just used them at Kings Island this past weekend with no issues! I had the receipt with me just in case.
