Platinum Pass Price Increase Next Year

Since Cedar Point is winding down, I was looking at the other parks' hours, and came across the Labor Day Pass Sale at Worlds of Fun. Looks like a price increase to $179 for a Platinum Pass. http://www.worldsoffun.com/public/planning/events.cfm?mode=story&chip=389

Next year will probably be my last year with a Platinum Pass. With college coming and the real world knocking on my door, I'm going to have to say good bye to Cedar Fairs bull crap, and meet the nice folks over at Holiday World that know how to run an amusement park.

Honestly, I'm a senior in college, and I go to the park more than ever. You'll have more time than you think. However, I'm going to find it difficult to renew mine simply because I'm not happy with the direction the park is going. We'll see, though. I'll probably just renew it as always. :)

I wish Cedar Point had a "Gold Pass" which included Soak City and Cedar Point plus the early entry benefits. I know Kings Island does something like this.

I posted this over in KI's forums as well....it's still cheap IMO.

On sale it's going to be 149, so buy early.

Still way underpriced, not that I am complaining, but they could get more for this if they wanted.

That said, when I was in college I was scraping together money from the couch just to eat, so a Platinum Pass would not be on my radar then either. :)

Promoter of fog.

It's a one time payment. Start saving now and you can afford it for next year. I'm a jr in college and I have more time to go than ever. Even if the price goes up, I'm still going to renew.
And to those who say that they're not going to renew because of the decisions CF has made, don't forget that your pass gets you into the rest of the parks free. That's worth it In my opinion.

I wasn't saying I wouldn't have time. My point was that I might want to keep that money and spend it on a park that is worth it. Free drinks, free sun block, free parking, free waterpark, and a park that understands its customers is a park that is worth my money.

Even at $179, it's a pretty good deal. I would say anything under $200 is a pretty fair value for the platinum pass. That being said, additional trips to Holiday World can never be a bad thing. :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I will still get the Platinum Passes for me and my three teens, living only an hour from Cedar Point, we more than get our use out of them. For me, the biggest benefit is early entry and free parking.

So, for 2013 we get the removal of a neglected classic ride, an upcharge attraction and a upcharge in platinum passes. Almost forgot the addition to Soak City that was buried in that announcement yesterday at 3:00 a.m. in the morning.

Still the passes are under-valued in my opinion and I will be purchasing mine again. Just will probably take more triops to CW.

Let me put this in perspective. I just paid $115 for a two day one park ticket to Islands of Adventure, $72 one day ticket to Busch Gardens, and $120 for a one day park hopper to Disney. For $179 I get a whole year of fun at 12 parks and various other water parks. Still a fantastic deal if you actually use it. Plus with the hotel discounts at CP I usually get about $100 back from that.

I'm fine with this price increase. I think the ticket prices should go up and the food prices should go way down.

Jack the price up. Keep all the cheap people from buying them, and make my waits shorter.

+1 Ben.

This is the first year that I have a platinum pass and I'm probably going to get 7 park visits out of it (5 days at CP, 1 day at Kings Island and 1 day at Wonderland..). I think it's a fantastic value, especially with the free parking and the hotel discout at castaway bay. A one day ticket for Canada's Wonderland is 60 something dollars alone. A $20 dollar increase still makes it worth the money.

That being said, I definitely believe that Castaway Bay needs to allow a discount using the PP on rooms for more than 4 people. It's kind of a slap in the face that we are booking a more expensive room, AND bringing more people to the park, and we don't get the discount.

As well, the PP should get you a discount on food in the parks. Even if it was only 10%, it would be something. We drop more on food in the park then we do in admissions (damn you Chick-Fil-A)...

Hearing about the customer service at Holiday World seems like it would be worth the 11 hour drive to visit for the first time. CP should, but won't, take notice.
