Hello-I plan on getting platinum passes for my family for the 2010 season. I see that KI has some great deals on renewals but was wondering if there might be any other deals or discounts for new memberships. I will likely get (4) passes and I see that there is a $5 off per pass deal with the (4) pack but that won't really work for me since my boys will be 4 and 6 next year and are both under 48". My 6 year old may be 48" by next season but you never know.
Does anyone know if there are other deals for families with smaller children?
Has anyone ever been in this scenario of not knowing how tall their child will be next year? It may be a moot point if there is no reason to purchase the tickets in advance. In that case I would just wait until next spring.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
P.S. I am praying for growth spirts so that I can take my boys on STR!

I don't think there are details just yet on season passes/platinum passes for 2010. I know that there is usually a family four pack online special, but it doesn't include junior/senior passes.
Last season, the 2009 season passes went on sale around the end of september, so I would keep checking up on the website for details :)
You wont have to upgrade the passes if this child grows. If you buy a junior platinum pass for 100 and the child grows over 48" then his pass is still valid until the following season. I had the same issue with my oldest this year. I asked if i needed to up grade him pass because he was over the minimum 48" they told me no not until next season...
Hope that was some kind of help if not Sorry.....

So do you think that if I buy him a jr pass this fall when he is under 48" that it will be valid next year if he is over 48" (unlikely)? The funny thing is that even if he is tall enough I don't think he will ride anything. He is a big "fraidy cat"sp.lol. My 3 year old on the other hand is a dare devil and I think I will need to pay extra for him next year even if he is not 48".

When I worked in admissions the rule was that if they grew over 48 inches in the season the pass needed to be upgraded. I haven't worked there since 07, so things very well could have changed.
In years past, pass pricing has typically been released shortly after Labor Day. So I suspect we'll know next year's prices in a couple of weeks or less.
^^ I currently work in admissions, and yes. if your child grows during the season, the junior pass has to be upgraded. :)
^^ Thanks. Do you know when they will be anouncing the prices? Also, I am assuming not but is there any specials other than the (4) pack that includes junior passes?

I am not sure if it neeed to be upgraded but I had the same thing this year. My oldest turned 5 last fall when we bought the Platniums passes in the fall. He was 6 in the spring and was 47-3/4" tall and the poeple at the pass center said we could still get the junior pass for him. Now he is almost 49" and we havent upgraded all year. since than noone has said anything and we have been there at the least 20 times this summer between Soak city and CP.

T, that sounds like the same situation I will be in next year. So what will or wont your 6 year old ride. I am wondering how mine will react when he actually has the option to ride some of the larger rides. I hope he is a coaster junkie like his old man!

Well I was letting you know what happened to me this year... My son was just under 48" when I bought all of our passes. Mid way through he had just grown over 48" he is 51" right now. I had asked a manager in the season pass center if I needed to upgrade his pass because he was no longer under 48". The manager told me no I did not need to upgrade his pass until we renew for 2010.
And my 3 year old is the same way in fact we were there about a month ago and he wanted to ride Magnum with me. :) he actually started crying when I got to ride, he says he is bored with Jr Gem an Woodstock express. :) that's my boy!

I have a son who is a ride junkie and a daugther who is not. To me, I think it makes more sense to let them ease into the coasters rather than riding each one they can as soon as they meet the height requirements. Some of the smaller coasters are a lot of fun but not so much if you are comparing them to the biggies. And they will be riding the biggies soon enough. With my son, we added 2-3 new coasters a year. But I know other folks who put their kids on Millenium as soon as they are 48" tall.
