Plans for visit in 2001

Hello all you Cedar Point fans. I'd like some advice for a trip I'm starting to plan to Cedar Point next year. I'm planning to go the first or second weekend in May.

First off, I'd like to know what Airport I should fly into. I'm not overly familiar with the area, so you'll have to forgive the ignorance of that question.

Second, where is a good place to stay. Preferably somewhere near the park.

Lastly. Should I take 2 days for Cedar Point or will I be able to hit everything in one day.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I've never flown, so maybe I shouldn't say anything, but Sandusky is midway between Cleveland and Toledo. Fly into either.

The best place to stay is ON the Point. That's also themost expensive. When my friends and I go, we usually stay at the Rodeway Inn, the street its located on escapes me at the moment.

You should take 2 days, definitely.
It's gonna be cheaper for you to fly in Cleveland than Toledo... and depending on what airline you take, you may just end up going through Cleveland to get TO Toledo. Don't remember which airline uses CLeveland as it's hub.

I stayed at the Rodeway Inn last year too.

STAY THE 2 DAYS! There is no possible way to do all that you would want in a day. You may be able to ride all the coasters, in a day, but you'd miss much of the experience.

Make sure to get a night ride in of Millennium Force! Nothing can compare to it at night, or in the day for that matter. :)
Cleveland is Continental Airlines HUB and I do agree that it would be cheaper to fly there rather than Toledo. Stay at the Breakers or Sandcastle Suites, both are adjacent to the park. You may pay more, but it is very convenient. If the crowds are low, you can get away with one day, but if this is your first trip, I'd make it two so you don't miss anything. And above all, have a GREAT time!
Cleveland Hopkins International is the name of the main airport in Cleveland.

Fair warning about going in early May. You are taking a chance of it being cold at the Point. Especially since it is right on the lake. But I guess you really take a chance at any time.

If this is your first time I would also recommend you take 2 days see and do everything. The crowds in May usually aren't too bad. Hope you have great weather!

Thanks everybody for the info. I think I will stay for two days.

Question about the hotels, though. Can anyone give me an estimate as to how much these places will cost. I'm hoping to keep it under $100. Since I'll be at the park all day, I wont be spending that much time in the hotel.

Thanks again! Maybe I'll see some of you in May.

hotel breakers is a lot cheaper in may.if you check out cedar points web site you can get prices on there hotels.
I recommend Breakers Express, located on Cedar Point Causeway. Owned by CP and 5 minutes from the entrance (you still will need a car).

Enjoy!

If your looking for a hotel close to the Causeway (or the point's main road into the park since you don't know the CP lingo)..I'm sure most of my regular buds here at GTTP would agree with me in recomending the econolodge on Cleveland Rd right by the Radisson..Preview Weekend last year I paid 49.00 a night and its very modern and clean!! Dan, and I and many others who go frequently stay there most of the time when we don't feel like spending the money to stay at the CP resorts.

Tim..visit my page (the link is below) and click on my accomodations button..you'll get all the info you need there plus the phone number of that econolodge mentioned. Send me an email too if you need any further help with your planning!!

TAKE 2 DAYS if your a newbie to the CP experience!!
