I can tell you that Oktoberfest at Geauga Lake is totally awesome!
There are SO many food vendors there, it's unreal. If you want a great selection of food and are one to complain that Geauga Lake just doesn't normally have it, you will be pleasantly surprised during Oktoberfest weekend.
As for crowd level, sure, it's moreso than usual...but it still doesn't really affect wait times on rides.
Back in 2005 my husband entered the Oktoberfest eating contest they had. He won 3rd prize! (And, man, those guys could eat!!)
We will definitely be there sometime that weekend. It's definitely worth it. (I am not just saying it because I am partial to GL, either.)
This doesn't help you now, kidcoaster, but the crowds the Sunday before Labor Day were present (ie the park wasn't deserted) but not bad. Other than Pepsi Plunge (15-20 mins?) and Grizzly Run (45 mins - ??? - super-slow loading process, although the crew seemed reasonably efficient) our waits were walk-ons, or so minimal I would have considered them walk-ons at any other park. 1-2 cycles/trains, typically. Waterpark crowd seemed light based on what I'd heard was typical, but a) it was cool (low 80s, I think?) and we went later (probably 5PM by the time we got there.)
Just putting on the record for next year, when the question gets asked again. :)
