Planning and design- gatekeeper's line

I saw this post on the facebook page discussing the same thing, so I'd thought I bring it here!

If you could plan and design any type of queue line entrance for the ride, what would you do? Not the park entrance, but the ride's specific line. I would have a cemetery-like iron gate with two brick columns on either side, and an overhead iron sign that said "gatekeeper". Since I think they will be using the griffon statue, they should put it on top the brick posts. But they will have to get another one, one for each side to make it symmetric.

I would be fine with any kind of straight forward theming with the station and queue having a Gothic or medieval feel to it.

I had this idea since they announced Gatekeeper, so I made a Rendering of my idea. (note it is not finished yet). there would be a medieval type fence on both sides of the statues. The wings of the griffons would have LEDs Inset in the middle of them and would glow different colors (I.E. MF lights)

My visual proposal.

Red= tall wrought iron fence, with large white-brick columns.
Green= that promised grass.

The queue entrance should have two 15' - 20' replicas of the keyhole towers, minus the keyholes. with large golden gatekeeper figurines sitting atop them, in a wild& intimidating flapping position.
With a large GateKeeper sign wedged in-between--similar to Coasterkyle's rende(minus the birds)

I think a fountain like the one Leviathan has would be nice too.

I hope they keep the steps leading up to that area right next to the bathrooms and fudge shop. After you walk up the steps, the entrance plaza would be directly in front (around where Space Spiral was) with a fountain of a griffon inside of it. Next I would have a large LED back lit entrance sign to the queue that obviously says Gatekeeper on it with a medieval fence and gate doors leading to the inside. The queues would play the type of music used to play in the Gatekeeper promo video and would be situated in between Wicked Twister and Gatekeeper's turnaround, then turn out, and head towards the entrance of the station.

I’d like to see a cemetery feel to the qeues. A large wrought iron passage with a Gothic feel. Its gates swing wide open to allow entrance. A curved "Gatekeeper" on top made out of iron bars. A large griffin that greets you as you approach the station. Instead of silver handrails use cemetery style fencing for qeues. Then at night have fog machine and over the speakers play cemetery sounds.

IMO, I wouldn't like to see any resemblance of a cemetery. And I can't say I'd like any type of tall iron/brick fences either. The designers of Gatekeeper want to have a "modern feel" to the ride (hence the blue and white color). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz0SgW6NVUQ&t=1m43s And why would they put up tall walls/fences if they wanted to "open up" the beach?

I like the idea of the big ("walk-under") sign and the Leviathan fountain, but I think It could look somewhat medieval but modern at the same time. I think the mixture of medieval stone/structure along with glowing LED lights would give a "supernatural" feel--while still looking good next to the beach.

Whatever CP decides to do, they should definitely put more emphasis on the queues than they usually do. Hopefully the former Disney executive (Matt Ouimet) should be familiar with good queue lines.

I can tell you that most of the fixtures are LED. The track, pendent, recessed and globe lights are all LED. Other than that flourescent and halogen on the rest. The track lighting is going to be Bruck Lighting in a Matte Chrome and the Pendent light which is made by JESCO Lighitng is going to have a Cobalt Blue shade.

How can you make a modern theme for a ride with such a "medieval" sounding name?

^ just look at the griffons in the background of the logo, they have sleek clean lines. I for on have never seen a griffon like it but was able to identify what it was suppose to be right away.

Yeah, I wonder where they plan on putting this thing. It would look better up high then when it was on the ground by Iron Dragon.

LOL... Cedar Point adding theming to a queue area.
