Walking through Planet Snoopy on my way to Gatekeeper Sunday I heard a VERY weird song choice. It was a chicken clucking the words of a version of Cee-Lo Greens "F#@K You". I know the radio version is "Forget You" but I thought it was pretty absurd for a kiddy area even though I don't have kids.
It's probably the version from The Muppets soundtrack, so I guess that was good enough for the park to consider it a family-appropriate.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
I was in a Nordstrom several years back. The pianist was playing a song that was hauntingly familiar, but I couldn't place it. So I asked him what song he was playing. "Don't tell my boss," he said -- he was playing Wannabe by the Spice Girls on the grand piano.
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.
On Media Preview night (afternoon? evening?) for last year's Gemini Midway improvements, we heard The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars. A song about a guy so lazy he won't leave bed except to find a girl to, well.. In a family-focused area.
Carowinds had a Kidz Bop version of a Lady Gaga song at the bar at Harmony Hall.
There are a lot of questionable music choices in the parks. These are just a few examples.
*sigh*
Along with "The Lazy Song" they also have "Locked Out Of Heaven" by Bruno Mars in rotation. However, as far as "Locked Out Of Heaven" goes, all the lines that reference "s3x" were completely removed. I found this out as I was singing along and found myself suddenly singing by myself!! I can't speak for "The Lazy Song" as I haven't heard that one played yet.
Some of the video and music choices on FUNTV have been a little questionable too. Nothing really overtly inappropriate but things I would not have chosen considering the the audience if I were making up the playist.
Speaking of FunTV, does CP have any ride-specific FunTV channels? For instance, at Canada's Wonderland, they have at least two rides that have their own dedicated FunTV channel (Wonder Mountain's Guardian and Boo Blasters on Boo Hill). The former has trivia for the ride and the latter has more of a kid's theme.
Most midway music, Frontier Trail being the big exception, come from an outside service called Mood Media that selects the music to play. The park has the ability to block certain songs but they don't know it needs blocked till after it plays once. The service offers different "stations" that give different mixes of music, so some play top 40, some play kids, some play Country, one even plays Caribbean for Calypso (though I don't know if they are using it for the new location or not)
As for FunTV, every ride is set up on a separate "channel." All the content is created at Kings Island and sent to the the individual rides over the network. Cedar Point has NO control over the content (though I am sure if someone complained too much a phone call would be made...) But each ride FuntTV computer is addressed individually and they can all get individual content. When the system was installed last year there were a few rides that got some custom content but for the most part it just played the same content. I am hoping that over the next few years that changes and all the rides get custom content depending on the ride itself.

They really need to add some Caspar Babypants tracks to the kids area. Heck, the dude has done two Beatles cover albums and his music is actually tolerable. You also know him as the front man from the Presidents of The United States of America.
