Me and a friend are looking to visit CP sometime in september, but have had a hard time finding places that will let people under 18 stay. I would be 17 and my friend would be 16 at the time of the trip, and we would be able to get one of our parents credit cards to have on file.
Does anybody know of anywhere that would let us stay, sleeping in the backseat of my car in a Walmart parking lot doesnt sound like a lot of fun.
Thanks in advance

Try sleepin in the backseat of your car in a fast food parking lot. That is fun.
Just kidding, but yeah I don't think you would be allowed to get a place under the age of 18. Unless your parents get it. But that would only work, at best, with a campground. But I don't think they want to come with you, and then leave. Good luck with that tho.
Hey bholcomb, what do you mean teen credit cards?
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
The problem in teh city of Sandusky has nothign to do with the fact if they have a parents credit card or their own. City ordinance states that you have to be 21 WITHIN the city limits to get a room.
It's a legal issue that deals with damage to a room, responsibility if underage drinking happens, and basically to protect the hotel companies rear.

Does anybody know about any places in the surrounding areas?
When I was in NYC last week the hotel we stayed at had no porblem letting us check in as long as we gave them one of our parents credit cards along with a copy of their drivers license for identification.
Last summer while traveling through Japan me and my friend just stayed at Youth Hostels, but you dont find too many of those in the US.
If worst comes to worst, we'll just pull an all nighter, or all weekender in this case.
Rob - there are a few hotels within the Sandusky city limits that have an 18-year-old minimum. One of them, South Shore Inn, even offers a PointBuzz discount. ;)
South Shore Inn is within the city limits on Cleveland Rd. There are a couple of other places within the city limits that the county visitor's center lists as a minimum of 18 to stay.
I did a quick search of the city ordinances and found this. I'm not a lawyer, so don't ask me if it's relevant. :)
When I was under 18 I used to stay at the Holiday Inn at route 2 and the main road into Sandusky (forget what it was) they let us stay after we signed a form of some sort. This was like 5 years ago so the times may have changed since then - you may want to try it. (Just so you know it was the main Holiday Inn not the Holiday Inn express.)
Cedar Point - An adventure waiting for everyone.
Apparently camp sandusky will let us stay as long as we're over 17 and our parents make the reservations.

But that is making it sound like it holds true in public as well. That's what suprised me. I'm sure it wouldn't be upheld as such, but it sounds like, if the parent is at the bar (and occupant of the bar) they could purchase a beer for their son and it wouldn't be illegal. As long as the parent remains in attendance.
