As a fan of the Pirate Ride, I'd like to see it return, but as a ride at modern CP it's just not practical. However, with some modification (ie., taking what's left of the scenery and animations, installing them in a new indoors area somewhat corresponding to the old layout, and turning it into a walkthrough like the haunted houses) it could be resurrected for Halloweekends. Probably never happen, but it'd be neat to see a classic darkride like that again. At any rate, does anyone know which former Pirate Ride figures/scenes have been sighted as Halloweekends "atmosphere". I wonder how much of that stuff might be from the San Fransisco Earthqauke ride, too. That particular ride was long before my time.
Good idea, but I don't see it happening. And yes, I really wish they would get some sort of dark ride, as I also loved the pirate ride.
Regarding the old props from the ride decorating the midways, all I've seen were a few pirates in the gardens underneath the Sky Ride.
Cedar Point rocks my socks.
Most of the props from both rides are either gone or very few in number.
As for the Pirate Ride props, you pretty much see all that's left during the Halloweekends.
The remains of Earthquake are even harder to find.

Nice idea but like you said, it's very unlikely. As long as we are bringing up ancient history, wouldn't the old FunHouse fit in well with HalloWeekends?
I used to love that ride when I was a kid (and still did even when i wasnt so much a kid anymore). I also wish they would get a dark ride.....maybee something like Dark Kastle at BGW. That ride is sweet.

A fun house would be a great idea in general, particularly as an addition to Camp Snoopy. As for the figures, I've seen (and have pictures of) the blue-coated pirate, the fat pirate with the rum barrels, and a few others, but that was years ago. Curiosly, there is a small amusement park near Toronto that has a similar figure, the one with two rum barrels and a menacing expression who once glared at the Pirate Ride que from the "ramparts" of the structure. There's an article and pic at http://www.dafe.org/attractions/darkrides/barrelworks/barrelworks1.htm
They were either sold off... or weren't. An industry magazine had a classified type add offering them for sale, but I never heard about them reappearing in some private collection or at some other park. Non-floating fiberglass boats have somewhat limited application in the real world. Makes me wonder if there's a larger, off site boneyard for ride parts controlled by CP, where they can store stuff long term without it taking up valuable pennesula space. Do people collect amusement park rides?
