I was just wondering if there was anywhere you all were going for pictures of GL being dismantled. I'm guessing this process is well-underway.
You can try www.whiners.com. There have to be millions of other sites too since more people care about it than gas prices or the Democratic Party's Nominating process.

Wow Jugga, I'm sorry that my post stirred such disdain in you... I am sure however that you are not questioning my personal awareness and concern for current issues and the politics of our nation.

In my opinion, who cares about pictures of it being dismantled? If you live in the area, you've probably driven by at least once, and otherwise, there isn't really much to see. Thunderhawk, Steel Venom, X-Flight, and Dominator are long gone, you would need to get really close to see the demolition of buildings (if they're doing so), and otherwise, it just isn't that interesting.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
No, just questioning the actual extent of who actually cares. Enthusiast? Yep, I'm sure we all care to an extent because losing a park sucks. Non-Enthusiasts around Cleveland? Sure, because many of them went to the park regularly. Non-Enthusiasts in the other 99.999999 percent of the planet, doubtful. It still does suck, and could have been handled better, but what's done is done, and no amount of demanding that Cedar Fair should save a coaster will make them do it.
Of course, if that many people truly care that much, it shouldn't be hard to take up a collection and buy the coaster for preservation.

I am tired of people who don't care about Geauga Lake and bash everyone who is upset over its closure. The people like the one above me are inconsiderate and is just another internet bully because they can't see you so they can talk all the crap they want. Geauga Lake meant a lot to some people and others just not being sympathetic about it. If you lost a loved one and someone came up to you and said stop crying and move on you wouldn't be to happy. So you if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all.
I'd say the same thing to your face. Its a park, and while its sad that it is gone, whining about it, saying it "ruined your memories" or that corporations are evil isn't going to bring it back. I'm not bashing everyone just those who think there is some giant 4 year money losing conspiracy and those who think there are more than a handful (relatively speaking) of people who are genuinely upset.
Sorry to interject reality, but it is just a park, and your memories are just fine. It is too bad you won't be able to make more (just as I won't be able to make new ones with my kids at Boblo) but that doesn't ruin the ones you already have.
And if the people who claim Cedar Fair MUST save Big Dipper truly cared, there would be a collection being made to purchase the ride. And I would gladly donate money to it as well, regardless of how much chance it has of actually collecting enough money. Unfortunately, those vocal people who are trying to tell Cedar Fair what to do, don't have enough motivation to do something this press-worthy.

But I still don't understand why you chose my post as your podium. I have never once whined about GL closing, never said my "memories were ruined" I've never even questioned CF's decision to close the park.
I just asked where I could see some pictures or rollercoasters being dismantled... get your panties in a bunch over something more worthwhile please.

None of that was directed at you Vanessa. Not one bit of it was, so don't worry.

As to roller coasters being dismantled, the steel ones are already long gone, and I doubt they treat the wooden ones with too much care since I don't believe any of them are being moved to another park. There's nothing really to watch, like I already said.

Oh yeah because a theme park is the same exact thing as a family member or friend. Good one ::rolls eyes::

That's actually really insulting that you'd compare the two.

In all seriousness, though, Big Dipper should have been saved. You can have a waterpark with one coaster, and people would ride it because it was the coaster. It just goes to show that Cedar Fair is in no way interested in anything that is historical, which is sad.

From my understanding, wasn't Big Dipper completely rebuilt at one time?

Yes, in 1980.

Not to mention what water park patron (not enthusiast) would want to take the time to put their shoes back on and walk that long walk to the other side to ride a coaster? I wouldn't. Seems like it would be a big pain just to keep it for historical reasons.
^ Yes, but it seems to me that it would also make sense that the waterpark section of the park will eventually take over the entire former amusement park section. Unless I'm completely wrong, since I really have no idea what the plan is to do with that whole other half of the park. If they're planning on completely boarding off that whole section and never letting guests back in, then I suppose taking out Big Dipper was a very logical decision.

Right. If they had planned on keeping the land, they would have kept the amusement park.
