Picnic Shelters and other potential space

I was just looking at the satellite view of Cedar Point and was wondering if they really need those picnic shelters at the front? I'm sure they get large groups that use them but in theory the park would profit more without them and that would leave another nice area to modernize and build upon.

Also the area around dodgem, it seems that Dodgem could easily be moved elsewhere to take up a lot less empty space which would open up that area for something big that can stretch all the way from Blue streak to where wildcat was (with the exception of the Good time theater remaining....after knocking down the theater preshow area).

Also a perfect spot for another flat ride right in between the train station and Millennium where the Giant Wheel used to be...

Any thoughts?

I think removing the Picnic pavilions would be a BAD move on CP's part. They are used LOTS during the summer for groups and families that choose to bring their own food for picnics during their visit at CP.

Back in the day, the picnic shelters were inside the park and you could take your picnic eats right in with you.

Looking at the satellite imagery...most of those are used by the park for catering.

The park profits quite nicely from them.

This might sound funny but I always look for future space that the park can use when I'm roaming the park. I notice weird stuff like that so your topic intrigues me.
The two picnic shelters behind Gatekeeper's turnaround (Picnic shelters #1 and #2) are still being used alot in the summer, they were pretty full July 2nd, however, I think that the Coral Courtyard is a better functioning catering area than the current Point Pavilion (next to the front picnic shelters); thus I wouldn't miss it.
Yes, I think a small flat could possibly fit into the MF/ train station area (don't think it would be visually pleasing though).
Two areas that might work for a few small flats are the area between Ocean Motion and Pink's Hot Dogs; also the area behind the Coliseum/Arcade. All you'd lose are two 3 point challenge basketball games (there's already one over in FrontierTown).
BTW, I don't see them being HUGE money makers for the park so no big loss IMO for some more rides. My 2 cents.

I think the area around Dodgem needs updated heading over to the marina entrance, it seems a bit dated. I would not like a flat ride between the train station and Millennium, not every space needs filled up. It's a nice area to just relax and watch the ride.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

^The area from dodgems to the marina entrance is a hidden gem in the park I feel. Very shaded and pretty queit.

If anything I feel that one of the car rides needs to go and be replaced with a coaster. (Cadillac Cars, Turnpike, and Antique cars)

Those rides take up a large number of space and one of those areas could be made for a nice size coaster.

The three car rides definitely present a locations that could be utilized. The rides are quite similar so removing one or two gives the park plenty of space without eliminating an experience completely. Personably I'd get ride of the turnpike cruisers first. The antique cars and Cadillac cars at least allow a family to ride together.

I also think the good time theater could go. It's a having the ice show but the theater is much larger than necessary, especially since the entrance with the bleacher seats isn't used for anything anymore.

I also like the all wheels extreme show but think that space along the water could be better used for a ride.

There's one small problem with this...Either the ENTIRE theater has to be demolished or the whole thing stays. A little known fact: the preshow area that we remember from the 70s/80's (where singers, magicians, etc. used to perform on a stage but has since been "cinder blocked up" houses the dressing room area that connects behind the wall(in the back) to the backstage area of the Ice Skating show next door. Look closely next time at the door in the preshow area. Now you know the problem.

The ice shows seem to be popular.

Just seems to me that CP won't remove a popular show.

The fact that they've installed them throughout the park indicates otherwise.

Of course, I'd prefer to see flats in their place, but it would be a hard sell to remove something that makes money hand-over-fist, only to replace it with something that only costs money.
