Prior to the construction of Gatekeepr, I know Cedar Point had two public picnic areas near the front gate, with at least one having grills.
I am curious if grilling is still allowed On Point, and if there are grills at the remaining picnic area.
Also, are there other public picnic areas near the park? Anything near the beach? (I am aware Lighthouse point has grills for guests, but there are no plans to stay overnight).
With the lack of perceived value at many of the food stands, I would like to try to have a cookout if possible on a visit with family.
Thanks,
Sam

Funny you mentioned that, as on the way home from work today I walked by the picnic area near the front gate and noted that there were grills there. I was surprised.
There is a large picnic area to the left of the front gate, by Gatekeeper's turnaround. It has grills and seating both under a pavilion and outside with umbrella tables.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Thanks for the help. In the past, I have used the picnic area that has since been removed due to Gatekeeper, and wasn't sure if the remaining area still had grills.
Not sure if we will have a cookout on the trip, but some of the best food I have ever eaten at Cedar Point has been grilled out by the front gate.
Now if only Midway Market brought their pricing back to last year's price points, or kept the increase to the single digits, I wouldn't need to ask these questions.

Yes they do allow grilling and i always bring my own gas grill and cook out because you can hit Mijiers down the road and get steaks or chops and eat better food than park fare. I always have a cooler full of food and drinks so i dont have to buy crappy fountain soda inside the park.
My only trip so far this year we parked up front to process our pass. Went back to the car about 2 to check into the breakers. There were people grilling in the parking lot. It smelled good too. Reminded me of tailgating at a game. One thing I love about staying at camper village is being able to cook. Steak, potato, corn, and charcoal. You can't eat that good anywhere else for the cost. We save $50 every time we take our camper just on food. I am not fond of hotels and would rather stay in a place with a kitchen.
The charcoal grills on the campsite aren't very big. You would have to have other options to cook for a large group. But I would think that if you reserved a campsite just for the grill, Parked the car with the stuff in it on the lot. Lawnchairs, coolers, and grill. Have others park in the soak city lot. A group of 6 would save enough money to pay for the lot and be happier with their meal. Not to mention the $7 beer you could enjoy.
It would help if you have a suitable camper to occupy the site. I don't know if that's a requirement. You just can't tent camp or have ground fires. Tailgating is just as good though!
It's all about what your priorities are. Taking the time to set up a charcoal grill and cook out most likely takes a decent chunk out of your day. Especially if your heading into to town like El loco1 said.
