I Like The Gemini
Ahh sorry I put this in the wrong topic-thing
Last we heard, they will not be letting us choose seats this year. It's been said that it will probably be at least this year at the least.

Ugh will they let us let otherpeople pass us up in line so we can be the first people on the next car that comes in?
thanks

I sure hope not -- at least not when you are standing there at the turnstyle.
Last year, after I had lucked into being (I thought) the 37th person in line, the very obnoxious woman in front of me tried to start letting people in front of her and her son so that they could be first. One couple went in ahead of her, and I was TICKED that they held up the line AND I lost my chance at the front seat.
Ah, sweet poetic justice though... Turns out that there were only 34 people on the platform, and she and her son were forced to take the last two seats on the train. Her obstinance wound up getting the front seat for me after all.
Sometimes the good guys win one.

I doubt it.. last year it depended on who was on crowd control/turnstyle .. Some people wouldn't let you have people pass you. And then of course, you have to deal with the people behind you who were going to get it being cheated..
Just stand in line, take your chances.. That's all I did last year and I got front some 32 times or something.. Have to look at my calander.

ok i was kinda afraid of doing that anyways. DU, It makes me mad when you stand in line for a long time and then something like that happens, but i guess your story had a good ending lol. And for everybody that might try to get the morning ride, would entering the gates at 9 and running or walking quickly get me past the crowds and with the first 4 or so trains to go out? thanks
mary
Last year, if the line didn't get to long they would let you choose your seat.

2001 park line up:
Cedar Point May 5-6, 16
(other parks N/A as of March 1)
RaineyDayRider - from my limited experience last year, going to the marina gate at 9 and running in paid off bigtime in terms of wait for the Force. The first day I entered through the main gate and some of the people in my group had to go to the bathroom. We ended up getting to the line at maybe 9:20 and it was snaked way the heck down Frontier Trail. We waited about 1:45 for our first ride. The next day, I got to the marina gate at 9 and jogged to MF. I was on within 20 minutes. I think a good strategy for MF is to go first thing in the morning and then also get in line right before closing. They'll finish out the line even if it takes them until 1AM, so what do you have to lose? :)

In a way, I hope that they do not allow us to choose our seats just because of the longer waits that would cause. By the way, my last time on MF the day I went, me and my friend stood near the turnstile and let people go in front of us. We guessed right, and we got the front seat. Sorry guys, but it was "now or never". ;)
There isn't a bad seat on the train, who cares where you sit.

I don't think that the wait would be any longer. It just wouldn't move in chunks and as far at once. That may make it seem longer though.
93mph/80 degrees in the front seat is the same 93mph/80 degrees in the last seat....a pound of feathers or a pound of rocks...still weighs a pound. Get my Po!nt?
looking down the lift hill behind you as you go up is a real fun thing from the very back seat, and if you can, try looking up the downside from that back seat on way down, very hard to get yourself to do, but way cool
Yes, 93 mph is 93 mph wherever, but if you had the choice to pick any seat on the train, I guarantee you would take advantage and get the front (or the back, or wherever). I know I would.

I don't see why they even use assigned seating.....I mean, they can easily dispatch a full train every time if they just ask for a single rider like they do on all the other rides if there's a seat open. Sometimes they could do a better job of this so if they could do that, it would make people happy.
I just think that's the "fair" thing to do instead of assigning seats to people. Let's just also say on a personal note that I have high hopes of sitting in the front seat this year.

They don't get a full train every time, even with 35. I vividly recall several times seeing 2 single riders on opposite end of the train. Can't get em all I guess.
I say start a queue for the front before the entrance to the station ( like on the ramp). If people want the front that badly they should get a chance. The can assign the remanding 34 seats off like they do now. The station will be just as less congested . Not everyone would be willing to wait an hour for the front, so they will get a full train every time. Cut it off before close. This would cost $$$ though. Drat!

Problem with starting a line down the ramp is, well.. hoenstly.. that ramp isn't that wide.. adn first time they need to have a handicapped rider come up... you're screwed.
I like the way it is.. sure in another year or so.. like when there is another new coaster, get rid of it.. I for one.. never worried where I sat.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but if they spent money for a queue section just after the bunny hop, and it entered neat the end of the station it could work. Just thowing out idea's
But then why spend money to fix something that isn't broken, at least terribly broken. For those who are like me and have not gotten the Front, our day will come :). I'm happy with my 5-2's and 9-2's for now, which are easy to get.
