Going to be spending a week at CP in a couple of weeks. Being a photography nut as well as a coaster fan...I was looking to shoot some pics besides in the park. A while back I read a thread that there was a road off the causeway that was a good place for picture taking. I've tried to search for it but can't locate that thread. Does anybody know where off the causeway this is? If it's worth it, I'd like to walk around and take some pictures there.
Thanks
You could always park near the back of the main lot and walk down the causeway. I'm pretty sure there are signs that indicate no parking on the causeway.
There is no walking on the causeway eather. Cedar point police do enforce this as well.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Sorry, I didn't clarify better-I know there's no parking'/walking on the causeway...but a while back on this site there was talk about some place off the causeway that was supposedly great for photography. There is a right turn at a certain set of lights...maybe it was a left. I can't remember. Maybe it's before the causeway, I can't remember. I wish I bookmarked the thread.
Probably Battery Park. You turn left at the light just before the causeway. This is First St. Turn right on Meigs St. Meigs ends at the park.
I'm pretty sure the end of either McEwen St. or Ogontz St. offers a nice view. Not sure if either is private property, so proceed only if you know it's OK.
I shot this picture just to the left of Battery Park. Here's a picture of the view point. You can see to metal poles, in between the white boat.

Thanks guys...Battery Park is what I think it was. I'll check around to find out if it's private property.
Yes, you're fine at Battery Park.
The streets I posted in the link to that map are in a different location (and different viewing angle). They are public, but once you leave the street, you may (or may not) be on private property.
According to the map at the Erie County Auditor web site, the undeveloped end of the streets in question belongs to "Ogontz Realty Ltd." So technically it is private property but it appears to be undeveloped, and in the overhead image it looks like the commercial tenant on Ogontz St. (parcel also owned by Ogontz Realty) may be using the end parcel as a place to pile stuff and to serve as a truck turnaround.
