Well, it looks as though we're about to acquire a puppy. After having put our old, too-large-to-take-with-us-on-trips dog down last month, we are looking at a much smaller breed. Because the dog is small enough, we are thinking about having the dog travel with us rather than kennel him every time we go anywhere. So, we are looking for pet-friendly hotels, ruling out all of the CP properties unless we buy a camper between now and the start of the season. Anyone have any suggestions?
Get a cat instead. You can leave them home with litter and a bowl of dry food.
(sorry, I couldn't resist)
You could try this site: http://www.pet-friendly-hotels.net/
There appears to be one in Sandusky, and one in Port Clinton
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
When I got married, I joined a family of one woman, two cats, and one dog. So far, I've outlived the pets. My daughter really wants a cat, but we have a couple of relatives who are allergic to the point of not being able to come into a cat household, so a cat is out. That's why we're getting a small-breed dog, since they are isomorphic to cats.
Plus, my experience with cats suggests that some cats have better aim with respect to the litter box than do others.
It looks like one good bet is Knight's (nee Villager) which has gotten good reviews in the past. We might try that one for opening weekend. I'm also starting to wonder whether there is an RV in our future.
My husband and I have a dog (medium sized, 30 lb. but extremely hyper), and anytime that we can't take her with us on a vacation/all day trip, we opt for a pet sitter. We pay a close friend/family member to stay at our house and take care of all beasts (besides the dog we have 3 cats and 2 very large fish tanks).
But that is only an option if you have a responsible & trustworthy person available to do the job, of course.
It looks as though the winner could be La Quinta, on 250, just south of Perkins. Pet friendly. Has "real" suites (two rooms with a door between them). "Expanded" continental breakfast (read: has a couple of make-your-own-waffle stations.)
It looks like it was rebranded from a Baymont (they are co-branded, along with Woodfield)--trying to move the image from business-friendly to leisure travel, I assume. The La Quinta hasn't been rated in tripadvisor yet, and the old entry under the Baymont brand no lnoger exists. Anyone know anything about it?
