I thought I would post this. On Saturday night, May 12, PBS from BGSU has "Cedar Point Memories," an original show produced by the station, will be airing. I have seen the show before, and it has a pretty detailed history of the park, in my opinion. Just thought I would let everyone know about this.

When I was looking around the WBGU-TV website, I saw that you can watch this special(or at least a part of it-I didn't watch it all) on the website w/Quicktime 3 or 4.
Here's the link:

I think it's also available in the park on tape, right? I've watched it a couple of times on WVIZ/Cleveland, the PBS station here.

Jeff, don't you mean FRIDAY may 12th?
I did see something on this past Friday night it was right at the change of the hour (10-11 p.m.)All I caught was a glimpse of a old video of the entrance and a carousel running. I was so mad! I thought I missed something, but maybe it was just a advertisement for this program coming up.
Anyways, thanks for the info, glad to see I didn't miss it yet.

I haven't seen the video on sale at the park, but you can get it for 25 bucks directly from WBGU.
Yeah, you're right- I mean Friday. Sorry for any confusion!

I think the video was for sale at the park, at least at Pagoda. Don't know if it will be this summer.

I live in BG, and know the fella that produced it. His wife sits near me at BGSU basketball games. Cedar Point Memories is not for sale at Cedar Point. They have their own video which is packaged in a similar manner, and has a similar name, but the documentry WBGU produced is different. You can buy it from WBGU, the phone number is 419-372-2700. I got a copy along with a few other local videos during the last plege period.

I'm fairly certain the WBGU video was for sale at Cedar Point. Of course, I can't jump into a time machine to prove it. But unless I'm losing my mind (which is entirely possible these days), then it was there.
My dad and I are both on the documentary and they used a few minutes from our home video collection.

I am fairly certain it was as well, because I seem to remember seeing the BGSU credit on it.

Park visits May 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, etc...
I could be wrong, I do know a lot of the film in both the BGSU and CP tapes have footage from the Center for Archival Collections at BGSU, and the packages were indentical. I suppose they might have a few copies sitting in an obscure store somplace at the park. I too remember they sold it, but just not in the last few years. The tape dates back to 1995 I think. I've been meaning to ask if he intended to update it or not.

i know foshure that the pagoda gift shop sells it,thats where i bought mine,i checked back last year to see if they had a new one,but it was the same one.i think it was 14 or 15 bucks.
I will reserve judgement until I get there. I'm fairly sure they once sold it, closer to its original release. But I know for sure that they also came out with a tape, similar in look, content, and name to the BGSU production. The name might well have been close. I was confused enough to have had to read the credits on the back to figure out it was indeed NOT the same tape. In any case, both tapes are likely of interest to CP fans. I'll check every last place at CP over the next two weeks and figure out if they still have the BGSU CP memories.

OK, I went, I looked, Cedar Point Memories is NOT sold at or by Cedar Point. They have a Raptor Film, and two promotional videos of 20 and 35 minutes each. One of the latter, looks much like Cedar Point Memories package, but is half its leangth, and titled along the lines of "a summer tradition."

Not true... they did have it in Pagoda, and it was the BGSU prpduction.

Where then? I went there today, checked all three tapes, and none were the BGSU production.

I saw four tapes, including the ones you mentioned. There were only two copies of the BGSU show.

I must have missed them. Has to be old stock I suppose. I remembered seeing it back in 95.
