Pass Perks

Pass Perks is coming to CP this year, started last year at KI. For PP holders a visit to any CF park counts towards the program but rewards can only be redeemed at your home park.

KI was our home park for 2019 although due to various circumstances we only visited once with about 8 trips to CP. Once we received emails with a $9.99 bring-a-friend ticket offers that expired within 11 days so we couldn’t use them. Another offer was a one-time front of line pass with another extremely short redemption window. Interestingly, those offers seemed to be better than the ones received by KI Passholders that visit the park very frequently,

For 2020 I decided to take advantage of the currency exchange rates and renew through Canada’s Wonderland as I would not be able to use the early renewal benefits at CP or KI. So whatever perks I do receive will have to be used at CW which is not likely.

Anyone else have experience with Pass Perks last season?

How do you think CP can best utilize it?

CP being more of a destination park, will short redemption windows be beneficial to you or just cheese you off and looking to Be Made Whole Again? 🤕

Maybe free fast lane plus that you get as a perk if you go there enough? Like 10 times? Then you have a week to use it.

That would be cool. Although my own anecdotal evidence is KI used the program more to offer better rewards for not attending as often.

I mean the way I see it Cedar Point would try to make the rewards worth attending the park as often as possible. That's what they want, don't they? To have a lot of people?

No, it’s like the casino. Don’t show up and watch the offers pour in. If you go all the time why should they give you anything? (Hint- they won’t)

Good point, RCMAC. But at the same time rewarding someone for not coming as often doesn't seem like a good strategy too me either.

Only it is. It's not so much a reward as it is a lure to get you back in the door.

So now that our definitions are correct, what is the point of offering a lure to a fish that is already jumping into your boat?

So here is the plan guys. We get the some Russian or Ukrainian hackers to penetrate CF servers and send a PassPerk to all Gold Passholders. Visit no more than once during summer/fall and you will receive 2 nights at Breakers plus a FL+ for 2020 Winterfest at CP.

Once a physical trainer told me that a day when no one shows up at the gym is a good one. Once they have your membership money it’s fine and the less you show up to abuse their equipment and use their water the better.
You may argue that visits to the park increase spending, but does it? And here you are as a frequent visitor hoping for more free stuff just because you like to go.
Maybe they should give you a free FL+ for every ten that you buy. That would be more like it.

Thought I should also mention Pass Perks to the best of my recollection was not tied in with the park mobile app at all. Communication only through e-mail, as RCMAC said why give out free stuff when you are already there? (Tony's twitter games excepted)

A counter argument to that could be along the lines of great customer experience and goodwill. One more positive talking point you have for your friends and family.

The CP website says that this is a rewards program and that you have to go to the park to get your magical email.

Here’s how it works if you have a 2020 Season Pass: You visit Cedar Point and have an awesome, colossal blast, like you always do. The next thing you know, you check email and there’s a message from us saying that the next time you visit during certain dates, you will receive a mega-marvelous goodie, like a FREE Bring-A-Friend ticket, one of our scrumptious treats or a humongous discount to something sensational. Or, your email could say that your name has been drawn, you've won a Cedar Point VIP experience! You never know what you can get, so it’s best to keep coming to the park and keep earning those valuable Pass Perks towards an experience like no other!

It seems like you only get an e-mail if you visit, and you have to visit to get an email. Am I reading this wrong?

The one thing it isn't saying (directly) is that you will get said email after every visit, or how many visits it takes to get an email with some type of reward.

I guess we will just have to wait and see. Like most programs, I would assume that it will be tweaked from year to year and from park to park.

I could be manufacturing this memory, but I seem to recall the announcement video (the one filmed in Breakers) advertising it as "the more you come the more you get rewarded".

Side question; does anyone recall how we get entered into that lifetime-pass drawing? Is it simply by coming to the park?

One needs to visit a park at least once, I believe. The benefits are not defined so it really boils down to whatever they want to do at the moment.

I am a 2020 Platinum Passholder, can I redeem my rewards at any Cedar Fair park?

No, you can only redeem your rewards at your home park. However, your visit to any Cedar Fair park will count towards Pass Perks, so plan your next visit now!

My family received only 2 emails pass perks last season on a total of 8-10 visits so don’t expect one after every visit.
