Hi-
I'm from Lawrence, KS (ahem... go KU! Final Four, baby!). Sorry, I'm obligated to do that. Anyway, I'm actually a season pass holder to Worlds of Fun and I've been really impressed with what Cedar Fair has been doing with it since they took over. I'm excited to see where they'll be taking it.
Anyway, since my WoF season pass is good at Cedar Point, I'm planning to make at least one trip there. However, I'm "hella po'" and am trying to figure out exactly how much I'll have to spend. Do any of you know how much parking costs this year or how much it's been in the past?
Also, we're looking at going around the 3rd week of May. I'm sure there's not going to be like a snowstorm (please tell me I'm right here), but I'm not familiar with the climate and I'm wondering what I can expect in terms of cold and/or rain.
Anyway, if anyone has any other tips for poor out-of-towners making their CP pilgrimage, I'd appreciate it. I can't wait to get there!!!
P.S. - Opening day at Worlds of Fun is a week from Saturday (4/6 to be exact). You guys you should come down for a visit. :o)
The cost really depends on how long you spend to stay. Late May is probably one of the best times to go in regards to riding the most coasters. The temperature should be pretty warm(70's). It many rain, but that's to be expected. I think parking is 7 dollars for a day in the main parking lot. I'm not sure about if you stay On Point though. If you stay off point in a hotel, it could be 40 bucks a night, but if you stay On Point it could be 100-150+ dollars a night.

Well, I don't know much, but here's what I do know:
-last year, parking was $7 bucks. Not sure if it's going up with the increase in price of a regular ticket or not, but that should help you out.
-as for weather, it caught me off guard when I got up there to work. believably, i needed to buy a sweater and have long pants for the first 2-3 weeks that I started. I started second week of may until it warms up. bring one pair of something warm to change into just in case, but hopefully we get rid of this cold snap we're in now and have nothing but beautiful weather.
hope that helps and that your trip is fun and enjoyable

Mantis Crew '02 - Where's the unload station at?!? ;-)
Well, weather wise It's starting to warm up again- 60's here in Columbus. Expect the weather to be mild, but there's a good chance of rain in May.
$7 sounds manageable :o)
We're definitely looking at staying off point.
By the way, I'll be in Atlanta this week; I haven't decided if I'm pulling for Indiana or OU. :o) They're both awfully dangerous.
You could always go camping at Bayview, or something like that. The campground is actually not that far from the main road to CP and its cheap. 17$ a night if I remember right. Thats for one spot with no electricity and two people. Other people are 3$ after that. It really is cheap, and the place is nice and clean. Just call to make reservations. I'm sure some one here has the website address. Have Fun!

As for other tips, I would suggest trying to check travel routes online and check for contruction. There was a lot of road construction last year in the Cedar Point area and I believe there will be more this year too.
I hope you have fun

If this is your first trip to CP, be prepared to be impressed! CP has a collection of rides and atmosphere that is tough to match.
Weather can be iffy in May. Could be anywhere from 50's and rainy to 80 degrees and sunny. Most likely it will be something in the middle, but its a good idea to bring too much clothing rather than be caught freezing cold.
As for costs, I'm pretty sure the off-point hotels in May are still in their offseason rates so plan on $40-$50 per night. If you come in June, don't expect anything under $80 per night. If money is tight, I suggest bringing some sodas in a cooler, and snacks with you. You could even buy them when you're in the area at Meijers on 250. That way you can avoid paying high prices for food in the park - although the french fries rule! :) When I go to a park, or I show people around, I usually like to eat breakfast at the hotel, then get to the park nice and early. We usually leave around 2 or 3 when its hottest and lines are longest (although in May lines shouldn't be too bad) to go to a restaraunt and eat. There are loads of resteraunts (Applebees, Steak n Shake, Ponderose, Dianas, Chiles, a new Cracker Barrel I think, Fridays) all within 10 minutes of CP. Its a good way to sit down and relaz before foing back to the park in the evening to finish conquering the rides.
As other people have said, parking was $7 last year. Could be $8 this year, but we just have to deal with it.
Anyway, I hope you have a good trip and if you have anymore questions, just ask. The people here are always helpful... :)

IU! wear red at least.
Don't forget that Oklahoma is red too! ;)
As mentioned, May weather is totally unpredictable. So the best advice is to bring something to put on for warmth or protection from rain. How many days are you planning on visiting the Point?
