Park Rules Enforcement Taking a Hit?

During my past two trips to the Point (both in the last month) I've noticed people walking around without shirts on and smoking wherever they please. I remember back in the day employees and security use to go around enforcing these infractions. They would even stop young people who were smoking and ask for ID. I saw no kind of enforcement except in the actual station house itself. Cedar Point has always been the cleanest, best enforced park I've known of that doesn't have "Disney's" in the name, but I was sorely disappointed in the lack of enforcement. It's starting to feel more like it's southern sister in NC that shall remain nameless.

The smoking "ban" has been barely enforced since it was hastily implemented a few years ago. It's a joke.

But if you sit on the rails while in line, may god have mercy on your soul.:)

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I've seen and heard quite a few employees ask guests not to smoke in non-smoking areas. They did train all of us to properly deal with guests smoking in the wrong areas. I don't know anything about that ID part, though.

I have noticed they are quite firm about the rails. I assume that's a huge liability issue, but walking through a cloud of smoke on a common walkway irks me to no end.

I've actually noticed more sweeps than usual asking guests to stop smoking on the midways this year. I suppose that could just be a result of being in the right place at the right time, but it seems to me the sweeps and ride ops are at least getting better with enforcement. It's usually the CP police I notice ignoring things like that.

Then again, given some of the angry bordering on violent responses I've witnessed from guests who are asked to stop smoking, I don't blame anyone who isn't carrying a gun and handcuffs for avoiding the issue.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I am starting to wonder about the shirt policy as well. The past couple times, I went there and saw several girls all over the park get in line, then get on rides like windseeker, TTD, MF, skyhawk, maxair, etc. in just bikini tops.

NO one got yelled at when employees checked their lapbars and such. Then I witnessed two girls get kicked out of line for power tower because they only had on bikini tops and no shirts to put on over. they all walked across the grass and left the line completely.

I remember when my friend and I were told to leave several rides like skyhawk and raptor because we didnt have shirts a few years back.

So....except for power tower, I guess girls can ride TTD and MF and faster rides without shirts and in bikini tops then?? I'm confused.....

I'd imagine a bikini top flying off on those rides!

Don't even think about it, little boy. I will race you back to the Mean Streak and win.

And if you decide to blow up a beach ball and have some fun in line! I miss the early 90s Magnum lines when they were full of beach balls flying through the air!

When I'm in uniform I look around and if I see a smoker I make them put it out & tell them where they can smoke...Sometimes I even have to watch them as I go past and see if they light up again. If so, I usually find the nearest CP police or supervisor if I happen to know where they are & they are close.

Just if you smoke at cedar point I don't care if you do it where we let you. Just please don't smoke on the midways...Smelling funnel cake fries and then smelling cigar smoke just isn't a good combo. Plus think you may be smoking say near Super Himalaya, and there are sometimes 5-6 year old kids riding it & coming right off the ride at the exit near the bench you're on...Just please be respectful to other people

I'm going to guess that some of the time, at least when there are guys working whose job it is to enforce the shirt rule, there is an element of "selective enforcement". And frankly, I'm ok with that. ;)

I vote for selective enforcement at Soak City as well....

From a ride host standpoint only... It's nasty to have to check the restraints of some of those half-naked sweaty people on hot days...

And let's be honest... if you're going to have a policy, you need to enforce it equally, and not selectively.

There's nothing worse than riding with a sweat-drenched lapbar or shoulder-bar

Ahh yes, the beach ball in line for magnum. Those waits were epic. It was always fun watching security trying to catch them, and when they finnaly did, get a round of loud "boooo's" from the crowd.

Just so everyone knows, most of the women I have seen at rides, were really large or chubby women in bikini tops, and I'm not lying...

the ride ops, men AND women, have all let them onto the ride without telling them anything. EXCEPT power tower, where they did enforce the rule.....

and....they did sweat more than a basketball player on a 95 degree day :)

Ugh, now that's not a mental image I needed. Chubby, sweaty, bikini-clad Power Tower rides. Space shot or stench shot?

I actually think it is more disgusting when people have wet T's from sweat. I feel bad for all of you ride hosts.
