When the time comes for our dearly loved Intamin square boxtracked or triangular box tracked coasters to be painted, how will it be done consdidering the immensity of these coasters? I know it took two seasons to paint Maggie, and that's a coaster with a track that's easy to paint...
How do you think the painters will paint all the nooks and crannies of the Intamin track and still get the project done? and does anyone know how much a paintjob for a roller coaster like MF or TTD would cost?
I think that for Millennium Force, there will be a large team of painters, meaning that a different section would be painted by a different crew.
Since nobody has commented on this yet, It gave me a fun idea for the really serious coaster enthusiust.
Have a Millenium Force "Paint Day", Have Cedar Point buy all the paint and supplies, and have the enthusiust Volunteer to Paint the Coaster. Free Labor for Cedar Point, and Free Fun for the Enthusiust. (how do you spell enthusiust?) :)

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.
As much fun as painting one of the coasters would be, CP would be taking a huge liability risk. They'd probably have you sign waivers/consent forms or whatever. But the idea of people with little professional painting skills painting millions of dollars worth of investments at some pretty intense heights, might not be the best idea. I'm not saying I wouldn't be right there volunteering to paint my favorite coasters, I'm just saying CP probably would't do it.
And I wouldn't call painting on a cold March day anything remotely approaching fun.

^If I lived remotely close to CP and I had the chance to paint MF, I'd do it without a second's hesitation. That would be the best! It's like giving back to the ride that has given me my best rides ever.

I agree with the liability issue, and lets be honest...most of us would probably not last through painting one section of track...especially intamin track. So I say just leave the painting to a really large crew of professionals...they know what they are doing and are paid to do it well. So, even though the "fan painting" idea might be cheap, the question remains..."Is a new, but crappy paint job, better than a faded one?"

Yeah they did that with the Bluestreak at Conneaut Lake Park. They had a huge Turn out.
But They would not let them paint hire than a step ladder would go. And they also Painted the whole Station.
It took them about a month to paint the coaster.
