Paddlewheel Ecursions changes?

Does anyone know what the fate of the Paddlewheel Excursions characters on the island is since MF? I hope the shotgun fight will continue, and that the guy on the bike with wings will still have a chance again this year to try to get off the ground.

The guy on the winged bike was still there when I was on-site in November. Actually, his track was there, he was in storage.

I'm curious what will be left of Paddlewheel Excurions after MF is done..will it be shortened once again??

I hope not...even though I'm a coaster guy, that is still a nice, scenic ride into the past.

Thank you for riding Raptor and enjoy your day here at Cedar Point, America's RollerCoast!
I'm not sure it really matters. PE is a faint shadow of it's former self that has probably lost most (but not all) of it's value.
I miss the old Western Cruise. It is sad most of the rides added the past few years have been around Paddlewheel. Millennium Force will not change it but from the layout it looks like it will add to the beauty of the ride. Look at that island turn right next to the water. I can't wait to see it.

This is where the "boardwalk project" comes into play. With all of the development over the past decade and a half, internally, CP has lost a lot of its charm. Especially in the lagoon area. Just look at the area around Mantis, it's a cesspool, and MF is no help to it. And now FT is going down hill as well. The boardwalk project will probably be part of a multiple year program to bring CP's charm back up to what it once was.

I disagree Vince..Cedar Point IMHO still has all of its charm in tact and I see no cesspool anywhere??

I agree with Vince that the lagoon area around Mantis is not very visually pleasing. When ever Cedar points builds a new coaster, the surrounding area always seems a little bare for the first couple of years. Then the trees and bushes and grass grow back and it looks much better. Look at the Iron Dragon as an example. It looks much better then it did when it first opened because all of the foliage has grown back. I think the same thing will happen to the Mantis and MF. It would be nice if CP could make the area around a new ride look nice from day one, but I’m not complaining – I would rather see money spent on record breaking rides then nice trees and plants.
Used to be that the Western Cruise (and the Frontier Lift) really made you feel like you were getting away from the excitement of the Midway. It was green and forested and there was nothing in sight. Then the Gemini came and it's been downhill since on the peaceful front. Cedar Point started catering to the coaster lovers - I can't complain, being one of them - but still, it is true that something has been lost in the process.

My understanding was that they were going to try and leave as many of the plants around MF as possible while building.

remember..unlike other coasters at CP..MF will have a lot of trees still around it to give it that Frontier feel too it!! They didn't take them all out!!

That is true about the trees and MF. I was suprised to see how many trees they left in the middle of the first turn on the island (there is a good picture of this on the CP official site).
I guess if that were really the case Jeff, than MF would have a name corresponding to a frontier theme to it and corresponding colors. I don't think MF was conceived to be a way to enhance hte theming of hte area, but I do think that it will make hte area more enjoyable.
Millennium Force is not in Frontiertown. It's the new back-end piece for the main midway extension. Therefore it does not get a Frontier theme, even though it travels along and across the Frontier Trail. The coaster itself is a Main Midway piece, not a Frontier Trail piece.

Anything on that side of the track is FT right? That seems right to me. The Giant Wheel was part of FT. Plus the exit is half way up the trail. I must say they did theme the ride to the trail when it crosses it though. It looks like a big mountain in the drawing. I am worried about the ride on CP&LE being broken. Then again it will probably attract attention to MF like it does for MS, CCMR, and Mantis.

Give it time, foliage will fill a lot of areas in. But it is time for CP to concentrate on areas where there are no trees...like the lakefront (possible boardwalk project). As we all know, that area (in the park only) is in dire need.
