I feel really sad.For physical reasons my wife can no longer ride the Coasters, and that boat was our favorite non-thrill ride.I think it was a bad decision on the part of Cedar Fair.
Sadly, I have already ridden the boat for the last time. I'm glad we all decided to ride it in June. We won't be back until mid October.
It is bittersweet. Although, my emotions are mixed on this one. Yes, my daughters will never experience the fun of the boat ride like I did, but the truth is, they never would anyway, as the current ride is a sad, dilapidated version of what it was anyway.
Time and change.

Just look at the bright side..
Now they can enjoy poor quality robots for the price of $5 on top of the $48 admission.
Paddle Wheel Excursions was a shadow of its former self anyway. I miss the PWE of my youth.
Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.
Rollbacks: 1
Possibly a silly question, but....Will this still be open during Halloweekends? I would really like to get a final ride on it if they are indeed taking it out.
Closes on Labor Day I believe.

I miss PWE of my youth too, but it was still something I could do with my two young daughters....together.
Adventure Island? Who came up with that one?

Paddlewheel will close on Labor Day so Terror Island can be set up for Halloweekends..I'm sad to see an amusing family ride and my HalloWeekends home leave :/
Another family ride is gone. When you go to the park with people who don't love trill rides, losing rides like this is a big deal.
The history of this ride makes it even sadder. Now they aren't going to be using these lagoons at all and as a history buff, that makes me very sad.
Did they say they are permanently removing PWE or is it only not running as long as the Dinosaurs are here?
As i said in the 2012 thread, These dino things are a fad usually. I hope they will bring back PWE in the future when these dino's have run their course. maybe they are buying time to revamp PWE and bring it back better than ever. It's not like they will get rid of the boats, especially with all of the history they hold and the lake erie criuses they are now offering.
If the Dinosaurs are indeed only around a few years, I suspect the long-term plan would not include bringing the boats back. The more likely scenario is bridging to the island from both Planet Snoopy and Frontier Trail, giving a pass-through in the middle of the park.
If the Dinosaurs are short-lived. That's only a guess.
This one goes out to Mr. Kinzel...:( What a way to end your glorious tenure @ Cedar Point. And this one goes to Mr. Ouimet....:( What a way to START yours w/ Cedar Point. We might as well change the name of this blog to "WonderlandBuzz" since CP has become the 2nd tier park instead of the flagship.
While there appears to be universal disapproval of the news, there's actually a wide variety of opinion. Some preach the doom and gloom because there's not a record breaking coaster. Others say it's because of the loss of a family attraction. Still others blame a pattern of poor choices in capital improvements.
Just an observation. It all seems like overreaction to me.
The rumor im hearing now is that the dinos will last 3 years and paddlewheel will be dry docked and brought back after the contract is up. I know Delbert is being removed because there are construction stakes all around him, but I wonder if they will remove the animations that don't affect dino island. If so, expect a brand new paddlewheel ride.

Oh shut up. Seriously the whinning needs to stop. I understand why a lot of people wont like this. The only reasons I think its cool is cause its something different and according to what i've heard, its succesful at KI. And you can't pin this on Ouimet. He isn't even CEO yet. He's just getting his feet wet. And have you actually seen the total collection of rides that Wonderland has? It's basically Behomth, Levithian, Backlot, and thats about it. CP still has been collection of coasters then they do. Gosh, I didnt know people were gonna be so offended by this.
I'm not willing to label any of it an over reaction...or an under reaction for that matter. It is just...reaction.
The Cedar Point Alumi page on Facebook is largely "meh" to "epic fail" on this...and they really SHOULD be in the demographic that Cedar Point is trying to lure with this attraction. Family people with children.
Walt...I think your third option is the one I fit into...a pattern of bad choices when it comes to capital decisions at Cedar Point. I've been hearing Dick and the gang preach "we need to go after the family demographic" not for at least 6-10 years and in that time we've got Planet Snoopy (kid friendly...but not family friendly in my opinion), Maverick (a thrill ride to be sure), some mega rides such as maxAir, Skyhawk and Windseeker (questionable appeal to the younger kids in the family), Shoot the Rapids (maybe the closest thing on this list to "family friendly"), and a nighttime light show.
Next year...they remove one of the true "family friendly" rides to make way for a family walk through...with an upcharge.
I really don't have a problem with the idea that not a lot of folks may have been riding PWE in the past several years. But, the people who WERE riding are not likely going to replace their time by getting in line for Dragster.
