Owww Magnum

I was on Magnum the other day and my cousin and I rode in the back. Well going up the lift, the car shook side to side a lot, I could see the other cars weren't. When we got to the top of the lift it was all good. It wasn't until the pretzel when I got hurt. The ride was worse than Mean Streak. What was wrong, anyone know?

It seems to be a problem this year that I have never seen in the past years that I have ridden and the problen is with the axles.

Something sure isn't right. I remember in particular that ride Dan and I had early in the season over a bad axle. Bad wheels are one thing, but I would think that bad axles would ground the train until properly fixed. After all the train can still roll on bad wheels, but it can't roll when the wheels aren't attached!

Don't go all crazy on me now, everyone. Let it before I say this, that I, personally, have nothing against Arrow Dynamics or any of their coasters, but I'm going to bring up the point everyone seems to bring up...

It's an Arrow coaster, showing its age.

I'd like to see some of these people argue their own points. (Repeat, this isn't meant to start a fight! I don't know what the problem with it is, whether it's an axle or anything, I'm just saying it before it's said in a, well, nastier way.)

And before we mention B&M, go ride Iron Wolf @ SFGAm and check how well it's aging.
HA!! bill i agree totally. what used to be the smoothest ride in the park has become, well, less than smooth, to say the least. i too noticed problems with Maggy and never thought much of it really. maybe it's something they will fix over the winter, as the end of the season is so close now.

ride early, ride often!!!
I don't know what the problems is with Magnum but it definately exists.

I was there in June and had two great rides on it. Was back in July and noticed a little roughness to it. Was back last Wednesday and thought for sure the tops of my thighs were going going to be bruised after two beating.

I hope they figure out the problem and get it fixed because this it is one of my favorites, but not for long if this keeps up.
My Dad rode Magnum for the first time this season and the first thing he said when he got off was "This is the world's best steel coaster?"! Please help the Magnum so My Dad and everyone else that rode it for the first time this season can see why it is # 1!

I had assumed Maggie was feeling alittle rougher than usual only because I was spoiled from MF-
apparently that isnt the case. As far as the Arrow comment goes-you want Arrow rough-try Steel Phantom (but hurry!) and Vortex...now they are a couple of rough rides. I still love Maggie
my favorite ride ever:

(Twasn't the ride-it was the company)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
I hear ya LuvRaptor. I had the best two experiences on Magnum at Coastermaia. First TRUE night rides on Magnum and in the ejector seat both times.
LuvRaptor, Kennywood is my home park. I absouletly love Steel Phantom, and don't find it rough at all.

I rode it many times last Wednesday and the shake seemed worse than I had remembered it. It may be related that during the evening, the trims were hitting harder than I recall them hitting since the horrible installation of brakes the first season.

The problem isn't the track... it didn't just spontaneously warp or anything. The problem is in the trains themeselves. They're not complex at all, and I don't understand why they're neglecting them. There's just too much play in the axels.

Okay the problem is the trains. Is it going to kill Cedar Point to get new ones? I mean the ride was seriously painful. Like if on a scale of pain Mean Streak would be a 7 and Magnum would be a 5.9. It was more of the Pretzel than anything.

Jeff is right. It isn't like the roughness of some Arrow head bangers, it is obviously the trains. It is unlike CP to let it go on without addressing it. I don't get it.

The trains don't need to be replaced (that would be incredibly expensive). They just need to be maintained.

No way is it more painful than MS! Lynch-I adore Steel Phantom, it is only "rough" cause of the harnesses. Tim-you say that it is unlike CP to let it go on without addressing it-what about MS?
People have been complaining about this thing for years and nothing has been done OOPS-yes-they ADDED more *&&^%^%$ trim brakes gee that improved THAT ride didnt it? NOT
I just hate to see Maggie not be attended to-even Raptor looking bad (running awesome-just looks bad) Mantis too-maybe something will be done by next year since they're not building anything new.

I didn't ride Mantis because it is a head banger. How much would new cars cost?

I have to agree with LuvRaptor on this one. Kennywood is also my home park and I won't ride the Steel Phantom. I was so excited when they opened that ride and after riding it, I couldn't care if I ever rode it again. I walked off with the worst migraine of my life (and I get them quite frequently, unfortunately).

Just my opinion, everyone's entitled. Looking forward to Phantom's Revenge.
Well, I've been around this many times before with many different people.

Some people find it rough, others don't. A friend of mine rode SP for the first time today (and the last), and liked it. He said it was a little jerky, but not horrible. Then, on the other hand, I know people that have been on it, and simply will not do it again. To each his own.

(Earlier this season [very early, in fact, I think it was mid-May], I did have a bad ride. I didn't have a headache, but it hurt my neck a little bit. Other than that, it's treated me pretty good.)
