Overbanked Turns

It may just be me, but I don't understand what seems to be the hype of overbanked turns. In the Area 51 Forum, that's all people want for the 2003 ride. Overbank this, overbank that. People are getting all excited over a freakin TURN. Its not a loop, or a twist, or a drop, its a turn--something that is in every modern coaster to date. Ok, so you "almost" go upside down. What's the big deal about that? Twists, drops, loops were all meant for "enjoyment" of the ride, where as overbanks are more of a need to reduce stress while making tight turn. I just don't get it I guess.

At 120 mph. + , overbanks are most likely the best you could hope for.
An extra overbank turn or so would be a lot nicer. I would rather have an Xcelerator look-a-like than a launch-tophat-brakes. Of course, I think we would all like a little more but sometimes it is just outta reach.

Using overbanks that are slightly elevated cuts down on the space and radius needed for a turn at such extreme speeds. Do you think that MF's first turn was built the way it is, hanging over some buildings, nearly upside down (which is questionable) just because it looks cool? It was built this way to conserve space and cutdown on G's.

Forcing riders into their seats by having the trains push upward towards the track is also easier on guests than underbanked turns which give out lateral G's. It increases rideability, cuts down on space needed, and adds something else to the ride which would otherwise just be a L:TH:B.

Not to mention that you can also get a sweet sensation by leaning way out of the train during the overbank (whether it be on the inside or outside of the turn). ;)

The final overbank on MF is great. I really love that one especially since you're flying over the queue, yelling at everybody :)

I love the turns. I wish Magnum's turnaround was overbanked, I love leaning over in Magnum't turnaround.

And didn't the old Jumbo Jets have overbanked turns?
