Opening Time for Park/Rides

First, I know that the park guests are allowed to enter the park 1 hour early. (Please correct me if I'm wrong) So, if guests are allowed inside the park early, can they ride the rollercoasters during that 1 hour? Are the rollercoasters running during that 1 hour for people to ride, or are they closed and all you can do is stand in line?

If there's bugs on your shirt, you had a good ride.

Atually it is only a half hour and some of the coasters are open this year its only mf and ttd but last year it was wicked twister and mf and halfway through last year i belive they opened raptor that earley too

i wish wt was open that erlie too

You can't even stand in line (inside the actual queue). The workers are busy test riding/cleaning/prepping the ride to make sure that everything is right. Most of the major rides begin to have a line form at about 9:30 or so on the midway. Then when the ride opens, a ride host opens the queues and walks everyone up. But no, you can't ride early.

They should open TTD later. That way people actually ride other rides. Everyone will go to TTD when the park opens; if they wait and open it later people could actually ride other rides until it opens. I remember last year MF opened up early; and when all the other rides opened there wasn't really a line for a few hours or so because everyone was at MF. If I was in charge I would open TTD around 11:30 A.M.; that way all the other rides could get some attention and their D.O.R.'s would be a lot higher! Just think about it.
That's an interesting way to think about things. I for one am glad that CP's management doesn't think the same way! :) They want to get rides open as early as possible so that the maximum amount of people can experience them. By opening TTD two hours late, they'd be denying about 3,000 people the chance to ride it.

For gate opening times, you really need to look at the park's website because it can differ. In general, most days, the gates open at 9:30 for the GP and 9:00 on Saturdays. Push the times back by a half an hour for resort guests and Joe Cool Club members on the applicable days. Rides (except the ones open early for JCC and couple water rides) open at 10AM. Most of the time, they'll open a few minutes before and it;d not uncommon for a ride like Magnum of Raptor to open up to 15-20 minutes early, but that's just a bonus if it happens to happen.

The extra 30 minutes for hotel guests and JCC members is an added perk to get people to stay in their hotels, and to purchase season passes with the JCC membership.

Ok, so let me make sure I understand:

Park guests and other people that are allowed in early can wait in line, but the line isn't actually even in the queue. When the park officially opens, you can enter the queue. So it's like you're going to wait whether you get in early or not! I guess the advantage is that it's like you are extending your day by half an hour. Sounds good!

Well, I might have been confusing (sorry). There are certain rides in the park that will open up 1/2 early for Joe Cool Club members and for hotel guests (if I'm not mistaken). They can actually enter the queue areas and begin riding before the general public is allowed in. Once the general public is allowed in, you must wait at the entrance to the queues until the ride opens (usually around 10ish or so). Hope that clears it up (and that I'm getting it right).

Well last year once the GP was let in they could get right on wicked twister, millenium force, or raptor what ever was open for joe cool club that day. But yeah all other rides they had to wait out side until they were done testing the ride. The worst was the mean streak crew. One day they didn't open up until 11.

Hey, we usually opened early. If we didn't open until 11 there was another reason for it, more than likely mechanical. Although there was the one day we didn't have any riders until 10:30 because they forgot to put the gates up at the train crossing. No crew opens late on purpose...if they did supervison would get rather pissed off to say the least.

FYI.....The brochure for 2003 says that hotel guests can enter 1/2 hour early to ride TTD & MF.....

I just got one in the mail yesterday....

FYI..... The website also says that and Joe Cool Club members get in ALL summer in half hour before the general public.

I noticed that too and was wondering if it was true. I guess it doesn't matter since I'll probably be working there during those months anyway! ;)
