Opening Day Question

I see CP dropped OSU Day this year.

Does anyone know if the OSU Spring Athletic Band is still playing on Opening Day ?

I heard that OSU day got moved to a random saturday because my dad was very angry and didnt but tickets. Anybody else concerned with the up coming forecast? It show rain all weekend. My goal is atleast 6 rides on Rougarou so I hope it holds till sunday afternoon

I do not know about the OSU Spring Athletic Band playing, but TBDBITL will be playing on OSU day, which is now Friday, May 15th. Your dad got angry because of the day it was scheduled this year? Still looks like a great Ohio State day in the park to me.

I'm not sure I'd worry about the details of a forecast four days out, but a 30% chance of rain doesn't strike me as a concern. There's some disagreement among the computer models, but right now it looks like any organized rain would probably hold until Sunday into Monday.

This is a good time as any for my annual PSA: If you're interested in an accurate forecast, don't look at forecasts that try to reduce a day's weather into a pretty icon. The National Weather Service website has everything you need. And if you really want to know the weather story, and aren't afraid of some scientific jargon, the NWS forecast discussion is a great resource.

Typically on days it says it's supposed to rain it will sometimes bypass cedar point cause it's on a peninsula! One time I went it was raining in Sandusky but not at Cedar Point! Plus on these days there are less lines because people follow the weather if they are coming!!

Weather doesn't usually factor into my decision to go. I'm yet to ever cancel a visit due to weather. I've gone on days with an 80% chance of rain and it sprinkled for only about 5 minutes. I enjoyed walk-ons most of the day. It's opening weekend, I haven't been to the park in a long time. I'd go even if it was Armageddon.

Sometimes the air and water currents push weather away, but not a lot. :P..

It was moved back a week because Ohio State's Commencement is on Sunday, May 10 this year and they didnt want Ohio State Day on the same weekend.

One of the best Friday evening I had at Cedar Point was back in early September of 2013 - it was POURING rain in Cleveland, thunderstorms, wind....and much of the drive up to Sandusky it was the same (well, hell yea we went anyway - after an argument with my friend, but her daughter and daughter's friend sided with me that the drive up wold be worth it.) At Cedar Point the sun was out, the pavement was nearly dry, all the rides were running, and the part was a ghost town. Nothing but walk-ons all evening.

I just prayed for a 85 degree and sunny weather! I want to get WET!!!!!!!!! btw is the beach open on May 9th?

At only 40% chance of rain I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I highly doubt the water rides will be open, but we'll get plenty of time with #Refurbarou! :)

I doubt it will drop to 0% considering it is at 50% right now.

Remember, 50% probability of rain does not mean that it will rain 50% of the day, it means there is a 50% chance of getting rain for a undetermined amount of time.

But if the flag at the main entrance is flying in the wrong direction, it's a toss up!

And it said PM thunderstorms so it's probably 50% on that thunderstorm. I don't trust the weather this early in the week because it is likely to change.

I'm going Sunday I don't care what the weather is at this point. The only way the weather will change my plans right now is if we had torrential rains Friday that soaked the soccer field so badly that my son's soccer game would be cancelled due to worries about damaging the fields. The we would go to Cedar Point on Saturday.
