Opening Day Gate Questions

Does anyone know if the Magnum Gate will be open at the same time as the front gate on opening day. I would assume so, but wanted to make sure after hearing an interview/podcast in which Jeff said something refering to the "running of the bulls" from the front gate.

Also, will there be 9 A.M. entry at the Magnum Gate for Joe Cool Club members?

At the front gate (and this happens every morning) there is a rope run across the midway just before the skyride station. People are all let in early up to this rope and only those with JCC can get past it. At 10am, the rope is dropped and the "Running of the Bulls" commences with everyone charging for their ride of choice.

At 10 am, all other gates also open and start admitting people, however JCC members could get in at those gates at 9.

yes, the gate by magnum opens at 10am just like the front gate. However, if you are a guest at one of the cedar point resort hotels or if you are a joe cool member they will let you in starting at 9am.

I'm not sure that any gate will be allowing non-Joe Cool and/or Resort Guests in prior to 10AM. Some of the promotional material that I have read suggests that by having a Joe Cool Club membership or Resort Guest card and getting in early has the perk of being able to eat at Donut Time. Take it as you will, but it seems things are changing this year.

Wait..so if you have a Joe Cool Membership, you can still get in the park prior to 10 on opening day too?

I highly doubt that they'll change how things work at the front gate. As much as it sucks to be the employee standing at the blue gates holding back a sometimes angry crowd, I can say that Donut Time has to do amazing business during that time. As a matter of fact, I frequently suggested to guests that they visit Donut Time while they wait. Most of them took the suggestion. It would be a pretty stupid decision to give up all that business that they have to be bringing in at the donut place during that time by making it a JCC/Resorts perk.

Are you saying if we get a maxx pass we dont need JCC?

I hope I can go in the Side Gate by the WILDCAT with my JOE COOL CLUB so I can run to the MF in a shorter distance.

Mr. Cedar Point.. that was pretty much the point of going in the maggie gate.. to run a shorter distance to Maverick.

You can go to the Marina Entrance and wait. But you cannot walk there so I would park in Soak CIties Parking lot and wait for the bus that takes you to the marina entrance.

I would say the quickest way to maverick is through the marina gate if you are going at 10. Most people will come in through the front gate, which will lead them past Gemini etc. If you go through the marina gate, you can then just pass by Millie then you are by Maverick.

I'm curious as to why, if you're coming in the front gate, you'd go past Gemini to get to Maverick?

If you come in the Marina gate you have to make the left just after Raptor and walk through FT, if you come in the front gate you just walk straight past Raptor.

I think its just me, I always have the impulse to take the gemini path when entering the front gate.

Not true. You cannot walk to the Marina entrance from the Soak City parking lot, but you can walk there if you park in the main lot.

^true, theres no courtesy bus that stops at soak city anyways. closes would be twice at breakers, then that would be POINTLESS to wait for the bus, then wait to get to the marina.

There is a resorts shuttle that stops by Rip Cord.
