Opening Day Fireworks?

With Opening Day quickly approaching I have heard that in the past CP has Opening Day Fireworks, will they have one this year and if so will it be an actual firework show or just an early show of Hot Summer Lights?

I believe they will have a firework show this year. I think it's an actual firework show, isn't it?

Its a tradition for Cedar Point to have the fireworks on opening day every year.. The best advice I can give to you is ride Millenium Force as much as you possibly can during that time.. You will not regret it..

I believe it was discussed elsewhere that Fireworks were not scheduled for opening day this year...

Probably a budget cut... haha

Its not really a big tradition. It only happened for 2005 & 2006. I would not be surprised if they do not have them this year. Although, I would like them to.

Yes, it is an actual fireworks show. They set them off from the beach by the very front of the parking lot. They had that part of the lot blocked off in those past two years.

It was discussed on another thread, and a conclusion was reached that they are not having the show this year. But, I do not remember what sources of information were used to come to that conclusion.

Scouring the website it looks like they arent happening. Not only are they not mentioned as an "event" but the 4th show is, so since it sounds like these two are a like I dont think its happening.

And if it doesnt, there is no way Im going opening day, why fight the crowds and my insomnia (my classes end on that Friday) when I can wait two days and experience this heaven people have described to me about the week day operations.

Wow, they are really cutting back for opening day, especially considering that a new roller coaster is opening this season. You would think they would want to make it a big opening day.

It also appears that they won't have those wonderful discounts for those staying in Breakers either. You know, for being a year that they open a major attraction that they have put a lot of marketing power behind, they aren't really giving their guests much of an incentive to visit other than Maverick. I have yet to see a single discount or major event scheduled for opening day this year.

^Its not really necessary though, with the new coaster that is all that you really need to advertise. Also, opening day really shouldn't be that important, the days between Memorial Day and the Start of School are because that's when the most people go. The people who go opening day are much more likely to be your "free loading" season pass holders as opposed to your resort stayers/buyers of one day tickets. *** Edited 4/15/2007 1:16:53 PM UTC by Touchdown***
