Opening day crowds

Hey all,
I was wondering what opening day crowds are usually like and how bad is the line at the season pass office to get your cards? I have never gone on opening day but was thinking about it this year! Thanks!

It all depends what you consider bad. I consider them mild..but if you wanna ride Maverick..be prepared to wait.

Yea I figured that. Will it take more than an hour to get my season pass? More than an hour and half to get on Millie?

all depends. last year when i went it took 3 hours, but i heard of people getting through in 30 minutes.

3 hours to get your season pass!!!!! The office opens prior to opening day right? maybe I will do it then.. Even if it means making an extra trip! I can't stand in line just to get my pass that long.. I will go crazy with anticipation!

Season pass processing hours are as follows...

April 18 - May 11
Monday-Tuesday: CLOSED
Wednesday-Friday: 3PM-7PM
Saturday-Sunday: 11AM-7PM

May 12 - Season
9AM - 8PM Daily

Oh cool! Thanks Loopy! I think I might just take a road trip up there early.... the only thing that sucks is I might be going to DC and would like to visit Kings Dominion but I am going before the 18th... grrrrrrr

Just beware that if you choose to not go to the pass center in April/before opening day, you might encounter THIS!!! ::cue scary organ music::

As for crowds....expect a line like maXaiRaptor says. Dont forget that Maverick is the new "big" coaster, and those are always hits on opening day. Crowds should prove pretty high this year.

LOL I think I will plan on going early! Just wish I could get it by April 8th... grrr....

Ah but then you dont have the coasters running teasing you the whole time. Me and my iPod will wait in the April lines quite content thank you, especially if the weather is as good as that picture :).

it will be very dead opening day and very busy the following monday. Make sure you go opening day and not that monday. :)

That's okay, I have tuesday, wednesday and thursday of that week, the following week, the week following that.. well you get the picture. Having weekdays off has its advantages.

Dominion will accept your voucher from CP for your season pass as admission. I spoke with Brenda Boxley in the admissions dept. when I thought I was going to run into the same situation since we're attending opening day at KD.
