Opening Day

This will be my first time going to CP on opening day. How busy is opening day? Also, I purchased my season passes back in december, is it possible to go before opening day and get the pictures and paperwork done? Any help would be much appreciated, Bob.

Opening day varies. It really depends on the weather. The season pass centre opens in April during the week to allow guests to go early to get their pass.

Bob, like Vince said, opening day varies every season. I've only been to 3 (4 this year) opening days and they weren’t that crowded. 05 and 06 were slightly crowded because of maXair and Skyhawk, but this years opening day will most likely be more crowded seeing that Maverick is debuting. And yes you can take care of your pass before the season starts. The season pass center opens in early April and during that time, all the way till the season starts (as well as during the season), you can go to the park and get it processed if you have vouchers from online purchase or if you just want to buy it at the pass center.

Doing the whole process at the season pass center can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or more depending on when you go and how busy it is. It also depends on how many cameras they have running and if it is temporary people or regular season pass workers...

Here's what I (well, my mom and I) did last year: got to the SP Center right when they opened the week before opening day, got my picture taken (we were renewals, so we didn't have to worry about paper work :) ), were out of there in about 20 minutes and did some driving around (you do the guess work ;) ), and then headed back down the causeway to Castaway Bay and enjoyed several hours at the water park. Not only did the process only take about 20 minutes, but we got to enjoy a decently empty Castaway Bay for a few hours (got busy about 2:30/3:00). I really hope they do the season pass discounts this year again.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Thanks to all of you for your input.

Avoid getting your SP on opening day at all costs. I have heard of waits of up to 3 hours to get processed through.

You know, as much as I have heard that, as long as you get to the park by 8:45-9:00 am, you are fine if you wait until opening day. Last year I arrived on opening day at 8:50 am and I was the 3rd person in line.

No big deal.
